"Well, if you remember anything that Val said or did that could help us find you please give me a call," the deputy said, handing you his business card.

"I will, Deputy Harris," you reply, noting his name on his card before putting it away in your pocket. The cop nods at you before walking away towards his cruiser. You stand by your car until you watch the deputy drives out of the parking lot and towards the highway.

You let a sigh of relief and head towards the rest area building. You see Loretta and Connie standing outside the women's washroom. "The coast is clear, girls."

"Was Deputy Harris looking for us?" Connie asks excitedly.

"No," you respond. "He was looking for Valerie Hudson, the mechanic."

"Val?!" Loretta exclaims.

"Yeah," you say. "Apparently I was the last one to see her at the garage before she disappeared."

I spotted your car and was going to look for you three but I saw the police car and hid in the washroom."
