You and Mister Moon wait in ambush for a lone Spearow to appear, but that isn't what shows up. Instead of a lone Spearow, a whole flock crests the treetops; and not just ANY flock, but one led by the most dangerous Fearow around here, 'Old Scar Face'.

According to rumor old scarface was once one of the Spearows that Ash Ketchum's legendary Pikachu took out on their first day, which somehow survived, recuperated, and became a fearsome flock leader. It's certainly true that it has electrical burns on its legs and face but that's not unheard of in an elder Fearow, they often tangle with Pikachu, Joltion, and Electabuzz at some point in their lives.
