Chapter 5 by FallenSaint FallenSaint

Does Gray let her come along?

Hanna Joins the team, but something is wrong

With a resigned sigh, Gray agreed to let the girl come. Hanna thanked him and together the group set about digging graves for the Giants that the Jinn had murdered. It took the rest of the day and into the night before Gray finally had to call a halt for rest. The next morning the team finished burying the tribe and checked the remains of the village for anything useful. The clothes and weapons were too big for even Gray to use and only Hanna could find any useful equipment. Fortunately fresh food and water were available.

Before setting off, Hanna settled for a long iron staff and leather armor for her personal gear. It was well into the afternoon before the group set off again. The first day and a half out there were no problems, but slowly things began to change. If the tense atmosphere between Gray and Jester wasn't enough, Hanna slowly went from being a sweet young woman to more and more withdrawn from the others and even snapping angrily when someone asked her what was wrong. By the end of the second day, Sha'Kir and Jester had gotten their fill of her and called a meeting with Gray.

"We need to get this girl under control. If she was just a few feet shorter I would suggest a spanking," growled Sha'Kir.

"She's just acting out. I think someone needs to get her away from the group and speak to her for a moment," suggested Jester.

"She's upset and it is pretty reasonable for her to act like this. Why not let her be?"

"She's annoying," both Sha'Kir and Jester said together. Gray looked between then and then asked who they thought would be best.

"Let me do it. I'll knock some sense into her."

"Right because Orcs are so caring and understanding naturally? No I think someone with a little more tact and can be understanding of her predicament."

"Right, so it can't be you because no one trusts you," Sha'Kir countered.

"Then maybe Gray should do it?"

"Why me," Gray asked the Jester with some suspicion.

"You are the oldest of our group and our leader. She already looks to you as a sort of father figure because you have shown you are in command. You would be the best choice because she would be more likely to listen to you."

Gray looked back and forth between his comrades, trying to decide who the best choice to talk to Hanna was.

Who does he choose?
