Chapter 10

Where to now?

Greenleaf Forest

Shasta leads you along the dirtpath towards your destination; The Greenleaf forest. Your walk is filled with tales of your adventures, as the hobbit girl questions everything about your lifestyle. You're glad to share your experiences, because no one ever wants to hear about them. To most people you were a vagabond. A rascal. Rarely do people see your qualities, and it feels good to be appreciated in such a manner.

'So you think you're on a quest now, but you don't remember what it is?' Shasta asks you, after you explained about your memory loss.

'That's about the gist of it.'

Her eyes light up. 'We'll have to find out then! I'll make it my mission to help you!'

'Whoa, hold on there.' This proposition is making you a little nervous. 'I don't even know where I am or where I need to be.'

'That's why you need an assistant,' Shasta quips.

'I told you, you can't just become my assistant…'

You reach the Greenleaf forest. The path leads straight through the towering green trees. They don't stand too close together so light falls through the trees, making it look a happy forest where deer and squirrels could live in peace. Not a sinister place for goblins at all.

'Just let me show you my skills,' Shasta pleads. 'Then you can decide.' She grabs her bow from her back and takes an arrow. She notches it, and starts sneaking through the trees. You follow her with some hestitation.

After a while of silently stepping around the leaves and twigs, Shasta stops and holds out her bow. Without hestitation she shoots the arrow and an almost silent shriek comes from the bushes a few feet away. Shasta runs towards the bushes and grabs from it a rabbit. She pulls out the arrow which is portruding from it's head and puts it back in her quiver. She then grabs her dagger, makes a small cut in the rabbit's neck and tears of it's skin in one motion. Subsequently she throws it at you, and you catch it. A perfect rabbit kill.

'What do you think of that?'

'That's good, you're a great hunter,' you tell her. 'But being my assistant takes a little more than killing rabbits.'

'But I'm a great shot, you saw that!'

'Yes. I saw. But I need something more.'

'Like what?'

What talent does she need to show?
