Good

Your roommates Chris and Tim have girlfriends and the four of them are taking Tim's full size SUV to a nice resort area a few hours away for the weekend as they all have a rare weekend off. This leaves Chris's Lexus for you to borrow. One of the many perks that Chris's family gives him is that the car is prepaid for parking, gas, and other things around town. While you went to Capital City as a grade school kid on a field trip you do not know your way around the town very well. Arriving at 8:30 you park in a garage close to the coffee shop where you are to meet Ally at 10:00.

At 9:30 you get a frantic call from Ally telling you that she will be a bit late meeting you as her mom had a bad fall earlier that morning and she is at the hospital (on her day off!) to have Mom checked in overnight for observation. She will call you, hopefully soon with an update on your planned date. She tells you she was hoping the two of you could do lunch before the music fest starts at 2:30 but to go ahead and just kill time downtown and hopefully she will get there before the first band starts. You say that sounds good, hope everything goes well with her mom and that you are seeing her soon.

At 1:00 Ally calls you back, tells you she is leaving the hospital, her mom will be okay, and asks you where are you? You tell her you are at a little restaurant called the Capital City Diner. She laughs and asked if a middle-aged lady named Melissa with shortish curly blonde hair or a young teenage girl named Traci with long blonde hair is working there. You say no, your server is named Keri, there is an old white haired man working behind the counter, and the other server is a large black lady. You continue by saying there are no blondes working here. You ask why does she want to know if Melissa or Traci is working?

She tells you Melissa is her mom's younger sister and Traci is her cousin, Melissa's daughter. She was hoping one of them was working so she could tell them when she gets there the latest about her mom's health and her sister's relationship. She tells you that Aunt Melissa is getting divorced so her phone number and place of residence is a little sketchy and the Diner is the best way to contact them. She thinks Traci is still 16 or maybe 17, she isn't sure as having just turned 27 and having been out of the area for almost 10 years, she isn't close to her cousin but knows she is living with her mom and has to work as things are rough for them. Ally tells you she is famished after her unexpected morning in the hospital with her mom, and really needs coffee as well. She knows where you are and will be there in 20 minutes or less. She tells you everything on the menu is good and asks if you can order her the special or just a burger and fries if there aren't Saturday specials and a coffee and if you haven't ate already to wait for her to get there. You say you just got here 10 minutes ago and were kind of dawdling over the menu with that thought in mind and look forward to seeing her soon.

Keri, overhearing you, tells Traci that a man, sitting at table six, is talking about her and her mom and could he be trouble? Traci and Melissa are filling in in the back as cooks today and Melissa is out back in the alley taking a smoke break. Traci started working at the Diner the day she turned 15 and now at a few weeks past her 18th birthday has three years at the restaurant and can see anywhere in the dining room and not be seen doing it. She secretly eyes you up and of course doesn't know you but wonders if you are there to cause her and her mom trouble. Traci's dad has been making things real difficult for her and her mom and she doesn't know if you are a spy or working for him. Her mom comes back in a minute and also eyes you up and doesn't know you and stays in the back unseen.

Keri, doing her best to act like nothing is wrong, asks if you are ready to order as you've only had coffee thus far. You place an order for two specials (a half of baked chicken with potatoes and veggies) and another coffee as you tell her you have a companion coming to meet you soon. This confuses and worries the three women until Keri tells them about twenty minutes later a tall brunette lady is joining you at your table. Traci does her spy thing again and recognizes her cousin right away and goes out to talk to her. Traci's mom joins in a minute and the family catches up on what is going on. Melissa tells Ally how bad things are with her ex to be and how her asking about them like she did put a little scare in them but it's good to see her and catch up. Ally admits, kind of sheepishly, that she should have known better to ask like that with what her sister has been going through.

You make it to the music festival on time. The music festival starts out good but dark clouds show up and you and Ally barely make it inside a nearby bar before the heavy rain starts. It is very crowded as others had the same idea. You and Ally enjoy an unexpected time of being really close to each other. As soon as the rain lightens up you make a mad dash to get your borrowed car and pick up Ally and drop her at her car.

With slight ****, she follows you to your place. She had worked 14 straight days and wanted to stay away from the hospital for one day. You explain how your car is borrowed, you have roommates, and you live there because it's close and cheap. You point out that she was already closer than your apartment by being in the actual hospital this morning with her mom. You suggest since we're this close maybe she should stop and see her mom again before bed time. She says it is after visiting hours but since you're both employees and she'd like to show you to her mom and all that maybe she should break her stay away rule.

Her mom is doing well and seems to like you. The doctors found that it was a change in meds that caused her to be imbalanced and almost released her after supper but decided to have her stay overnight and leave in the morning, too err on the cautious. Her new meds seem to be working well. You and Ally talk, have a few drinks, and listen to music back at your apartment. She was mixing coffee with her alcoholic drinks and is fine to drive home at 1:00 in the morning when you both agree to end the night with a long kiss. You have plans for another date with Ally.
