Chapter 8 by gunde gunde

What is it?

Going after an immoral merchant

“I originate from a land far to the south of Gordor”, Silver began her explanation, “a land with little need of dealing with the outside world. But for the last decade, a series of wars has been waged against us by the kingdom of Zarakhan. Their king claims that the war is motivated by his desire to teach us the “one, true faith”, but in reality the greedy old bastard wants land and riches.”
“But why are you in Gordor?” Hauk asked, failing to see the logic of her being here.
“It’s really quite simple; to reach our lands from Zarakhan one must travel across the sea. Our resistance is forcing Zarakhan’s king to keep a large army in the areas that he has conquered. To transport and supply such a large amount of troops abroad is costly. That means that he needs gold, which he doesn’t have. So the king needs to loan money. Merchants have money. Gordor’s got plenty of merchants.” The calmness of Silver’s voice surprised Hauk, hearing her describe the dealings surrounding the invasion of her country without any overt show of emotion both impressed and perplexed him.

“So the king finds himself a merchant in Gordor who is willing to finance his holy war, eh?”
“Precisely, and I’ve come here to persuade the merchant to cancel his loans, effective immediately.” Silver’s voice took on a menacing quality as she spat out the last two words.
“And I gather that this is where I come in?”
Hauk’s question, and the tone in which it had been put, caused the silver-haired half-elf’s to smile widely, her hazel eyes growing more lively.
By the way in which she was looking at him, Hauk guessed that Silver was making other plans for him, aside from those concerning the betterment of her people’s place in life.

“Yes, that’s were you come in. It wasn’t hard to realize when I first got here that I would need assistance from good men and women if I’m to succeed. I need your help in shaping a group that can tackle the merchant.”
“It doesn’t sound like he will be an easy foe.”
“No, he has at least one mage serving his house, and at least two dozen guards.”
“And what will you offer for payment? It’s a crude question, but I’m in need of money.”
“A part of whatever we can pillage from the merchant, with other things until then.”
“Other things? Like what?”

As a way of replying to Hauk’s latest question, Silver parted her robe to reveal the front of her nubile body to him. Dropping his axe and satchel onto the floor as if on key when he got a first view of Silver’s wide, thick nipples, Hauk took a step towards her.
While doing so, he began to undo his loincloth.

How does Silver start “paying” Hauk?
