Chapter 10 by solidrabbit1 solidrabbit1

Launch the ship?

Go to your console

"It's time we launch the ship, Ensign." That captain started. "That means you need to go back to your console."

You take a quick look at your station and see that Dr. Lo was still sitting there. You look back to Captain Miller and gave her your best puppy dog eyes. She along with the first officer laughed at you. The captain put a hand on your shoulder.

"I do feel bad for you, but we all have to deal with those kind of people."

"Yes, sir." You sigh and you stand up to face your doom.

You stand next to Dr. Lo and look over her shoulder. You could see that she was running through all the efficiency calculations for engineering. It's like she well and truly believed that your numbers were fabricated and your improvements were nothing but fairy dust and magic.

"Dr. Lo," she jumped in surprised, "I need to use my console."

"You idiot!" She flew up from my seat and got in my face again. "Don't you dare sneak up on me like that!"

You honestly didn't feel threatened by her. It was like you built up and immunity from her earlier berating. You were still listening to her and hearing what she was saying, but you just didn't react all to the verbal ****.

"Look," you say calmly and push her to the side. "I need to do my job, so can you please step aside."

Her face turned red with anger and she stormed off to the turbolift. She pushed a security officer into the wall as he was stepping out of her path.

You tapped a few buttons on your panel before getting the feeling that you were being watched. You turn and see most of the bridge officer and even the captain staring at you. Dr. Lo's outburst must have really rattled the bridge and broke the peace and quiet.

"You're lucky you weren't in engineering when she did that for every last system," you announce to everyone and return to your panel.

The rest of the bridge followed suit and returned to duty. The captain was secretly proud of you for standing up to her without faulting on the bridge and even more so for what she didn't experience in engineering. Not everyone could do that. Not even some experience officers.

You watched the readouts change on your monitor of engineering as the captain was given permission to leave dry dock and engage the warp drive. Everything was going according to plan. Engine power worked perfectly, temperatures stayed within regulation, and Dr. Lo was disturbing the peace on the bridge.

Where does adventure take you?
