Chapter 3
by HigherPursuit
What's next?
Go to the garage.
It took courage to overcome the fear I had of Dad and start stepping in the direction of the garage. With every step, I could feel my mind alerting me to turn around, but the motion kept my feet and body going forward. It was such an uncomfortable situation to be in when I knew that I could have just asked mother and it would have all been fine. I took a few more steps until I was in the line of Dad's vision.
"Hey Dad." I said. He did not move, but I saw his face becoming a little more annoyed with my presence. I could see that he was frustrated with something else, like he always was.
I could feel the fear starting to eat away the courage, with a little shake in my leg.
"What do you want?" Dad shot back with a tone of menace, still working on his car.
"I have a prom coming up, and I would really like to go. Can I borrow some money to pay for it?"
Dad looks up, this time intrigued, unsure of his thoughts.
"Why don't you find a job like any self-respecting man?" he responded.
"I know I will find one, but prom is really soon and I want to sort this out first and I don't think I have enough time." I managed to let out.
"How much do you need?"
"Well, I need to pay for prom, and a suit" I left out **** and possibly ****. "So like $500?"
"Do you have a date?"
"Yeah." I replied, thinking about Kim.
Dad opened the door of his car and pulled out an envelope from the console. He pulled out $700 in bills and walked over to me.
"This is a loan for you to enjoy prom and show your girl a good time. Again, this is a loan, and you must go find a job and pay me back."
"Thanks Dad" I said as he got back to doing his thing.
Holy fuck. What the fuck just happened?
With a lot of confusion, I headed back to my room and went online. Prom was completely covered and more. It was the most money I've ever had in my life, and I thought of all the different possibilities.
I went online and messaged Shane.
"Yo Shane, I've cleared my schedule and I'm good to come to prom now."
"Fuck yeah man, I'll let Kim know. By the way, any chance you know someone who could hook us up with some ****?"
I remembered that I had a cousin who mentioned that he did something of the sort.
"Yeah I do. What was it that you wanted?"
"I'm not too sure. Anything really?" Shane replied on chat.
"I got this, don't worry man" I really didn't know what I was doing, but Shane's reaction had an air of admiration and respect, and I didn't want to let him or Kim down.
"You're a fucking legend man. Prom's going to be a good night"
Now that I had more money than I needed, my goal was to score the **** and also find someone to take to prom.
Without hesitation, I hit up my cousin via text.
"Hey man, you reckon you can hook me up?"
I started to get a little worried as he didn't reply.
