As Anna leaves you room you being to think. "I have a lot of time before Edwin should show, might be able to dig some stuff up on my mother's family." You say to yourself.

Leaving the Ale House through the back door to avoid drunk patrons you start heading out along the main canal of the city, you slowly head towards the city center, large kingdoms usually conduct a census of it populace in order to conscript for the military and to better tax people. The census records are usually kept in an archive in a government building or some library. If you would be able to find information on who you mother's family was or is it would have to be in one of those places.

You slowly walk along the canal watching the ships head upstream toward more inland ports, with each one slowly crawling there way inland. The men working hard, running around just to make sure they don't hit the sides of the canal, one strong wind and there would be a crash, not a good one either. Also to your left lays the market, busy as always, with merchants yelling in an attempt to not only gain business but drive away the competitors customers. Trying to avoid entering the market you start heading even further into the city, and once past the market you enter what looks like a rich district of the city, surely one of your goals should be here. Deciding to go with the library first, if this city has one, you start asking around and this time finding more success than last time you tried to navigate the city, quickly you find your way towards your destination.

It is a large granite building, constructed in a long line, and it's impressively tall. As you head in the large doors there is a old robed man sitting in front of a table reading a really large book, strangely he seems young yet old at the same time. You slowly approach the man, who seemingly never looks up from his book, yet asks you one question.

"Name"? the man asks in a monotone voice.

"Bergelmir" He looks up, "surname?"

"Aurgelmirsson" telling him what could pass as your surname.

The man writes your name in the book, log of guest you think, then says "follow me."

You follow the man into the main chamber of the building, stopping when you notice the shear amount of books kept here, book upon book dating back you don't know how long all lining the walls of the building, truly a sight to behold, and this is apparently not even close the largest one. The man who led you in, leaves without a word, leaving you alone in the massive archive. You nearly want to give up before you even start, the amount of effort it will take you to find anything related to your mother's family will be staggering. You breath deeply and prepare yourself for what is about to come.

You only know one thing about your mother her surname was Loring, beyond that she never told you. You spend hours looking through tome after tome, thankfully your mother taught you to read well. After awhile you have gathered enough possible leads that you can narrow them down to one family.
