Go search the houses

I walk into the first house and it was a complete mess. There was hardly a place to put your foot on the floor. It was a two storey house, and after searching the first floor I carefully took the stairs up. As I was half way up I heard a noise, it was like a shuffle, now I'm really nervous. When reached the top of the stairs I looked both sides of the corridor and saw it was empty, unlike the mess downstairs it was devoid of anything. There were three rooms on this floor, two to my left and one on my right. I hear the shuffle again and it cane from the room on the right.
