Go home and forget about it...for now.

I decide the best thing I can do is get on with school.

I go home and as the days pass, I see Doe every Monday and Wednesday for class. He always seems to smile directly at me from the front of class, and I always smile back. My attraction to him seems to grow stronger with each lecture, as I discover his wit, his sense of humor, and the hobbies and interests we have in common.

As the semester progresses I continue attending his office hours, determined to impress him with my ambition and intelligence.

Finally, the semester is over. I am happy with the A- I get, and drop by to thank him for all his help over the course of the semester.

"You're absolutely welcome, Jane!"

The professor asks me about my Christmas plans, and I explain that I am going home to spend the holiday with my parents. I add that I expect to be back for New Year's Eve, although I don't know what I'll be doing.

"You might think about going to Kidder's...it's a restaurant and bar that's having an 18+ New Year's show with several live bands." Doe's enthusiasm catches me off guard, and I ask if he'll be going. He says of course he will, and explains that they have all those old enough to drink wear wristbands.

"Kidder's is a great place to meet people, and hang out with friends!"

I get the idea, and excuse myself to pack for the trip home.

I know where I will be for New Year's Eve...!
