Get rid of the most useless members of the court

There is some potential here but first, you need to separate the wheat from the chaff.

The courtiers are talking amongst themselves but when they see you are ready to speak they quickly quiet down.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the court, you served my parents for many years and for that I commend you but alas with the untimely **** of my parents, your rulers, times have changed."

"Many of you are simply no longer contributing to the realm or the crown in any meaningful way and we need to stop any talk of your being treasonous, gluttonous, drunken layabouts before it starts."

At the mention of the word treason, you see fear cross your courtier's faces.

You smile out at their worried faces "I think a test of loyalty is needed so we can separate those great members of this court from those... less than stellar members that are bringing the reputation of this court down.

"You have until I next convene court to each decide on a gift to give me, those who's gifts I find... lacking... will be executed for treason because they will have clearly shown no commitment to pleasing me. Also if any of you fail to attend court next time you will be executed for running away from my commandment to please me."

You hear the gasps and sobs of the courtiers but with that, you calmly walk out of the throne room leaving your court to decide its fate.

You have certainly made some enemies here today but you've also Shown your court that you are stern and will not tolerate their old behaviour but that you can still be appeased.
