Gather samples from the open plains

Spotting a group of large giraffe-like animals lumbering in the distance, the captains orders a team of colonists be made up and have a closer look at the herd.

Equipped with some gear for trapping, but only basic enviro-suits, a team sets out and shortly after arrives at the lumbering beasts.

"Incredible" some of them comment through their mics, never having seen an alien before as air born drones along with their body cams capture the nearly twenty foot tall beige and purple striped creatures as they lumber slowly across the savanna.

"Whoa are those friggen things their..." A man points out at the long fleshy tube that dangles from their abdomen almost six feet down to the ground.

"And what's that?" A woman points over at one of the nearest creatures and sees something dark latched onto its penis.

Zooming in the captain notices what the field team is seeing as a strange leech-like organism is wrapped around the end of the alien giraffes appendage and appears to be sucking on and consuming a clear but goey substance emanating from its tip.

"Ascertain that specimen immediately please" the captain orders, intrigued by its odd source of apparent food and the strange purpose of such a creature.

"Are you kidding? I never signed up for this" one man complains but reaches over with a pair of graspers as another holds the containment bag.

They manage to grab the leech-like creature without much difficulty but when they try to pry it off it begins to wiggle violently and suddenly releases itself as it slips from the graspers and leaps onto one of the men.

"Agh, Jesus get it off me!" the man flails and falls to the ground as the creature immediately slithers and darts over the crotch of his suit almost as if looking for an opening within in the material.

"I got it!" the other man grabs it with both gloved hands and tosses it into the containment bin where its sealed shut before it can escape.

"Slippery bugger, that thing's covered in some kind of goop."

"Hmm, very interesting behavior" the captain stares with cold fascination.
