Chapter 2 by Yabusa Yabusa

Which Body Chaos competition is up?

Fusion Tug-o-War

The Fusion Tug-o-War is an exciting event where two contestants enter the ring, and one leaves--because the two contestants have been combined in some way!

In this event, two contestants are somehow made to be fusion-capable, turned to liquid either by magic, technology, or some other natural ability of their own. The event starts the moment the two contestants come in contact with each other. When the competition is in progress, their form begins to 'anneal', or solidify to a single fused form. Throughout the annealing process, the contestants are fighting for the dominant control of the body and its limbs.

By the time the fused body is solid enough to move without splitting apart, the contestants attempt to make their way out of the center of the arena, towards their own goal zone. A winner is declared when one contestant has gained enough control over the shared body to move completely into their own goal area. After ten minutes, if neither goal area has been entered, then whichever goal the body is closest to is declared the winner!

Those who do reach the goal areas do get the option of their own advantage, one that can be especially potent since fusion often creates incredibly beautiful, stunning, exotic, and powerful results. While other contestants would be immediately un-fused, the victor that makes it to a goal area can choose to keep their body in the fused form until their next Fusion Tug-o-War round, which has sometimes led to a fused body competing in other events! In the 65th annual BCR, a Pellian named Qaris fused with a human magician, Maria Cortez, winning by reaching the goal in time. Deciding to keep the fusion, Qaris used their new sleek humanoid body to compete in the mertaur races, gaining an incredible advantage from the combination of a human body and Pellian squid-skin in that event and taking first place overall!

This event does have some disadvantages for beings that are not solid to begin with. Because it is a fusion event and not a possession event, an energy being or a slime being merging with a solid form may not be able to overcome a solid form's natural advantage in controlling a fused body. However, they are certainly welcome to try, as the results of merged energy, slime, and solid beings often create wonderful bodies that the crowds absolutely love to see in action!

Who's competing in the fusion tug-o-war in the first round?
