Friday

I sat on my bed and meditated as the sun rose Friday morning. Should I go to school? On the one hand it didn't matter, I didn't really fit into society normally any more and had no real need for an education or anything like that. On the other hand it would be nice to finish off my high school properly and possibly ensnare a few lovely slaves before I left for good. I needed to cover up and I probably should quit Lacrosse since try outs would be really annoying in a cloak. That would mean talking to Derek. Ugh. Just then I received a text.

(Julia: Hey you up?)

(John: Why hello my potential acolyte. I finally made it home last night, no thanks to you =P)

(Julia: Sorry about that but I was doing my job. Acolyte? I wanna be your apprentice!)

(John: I can't teach you magic Julia, I can explain it to you and show you examples but you won't be able to do it yourself. If that's not enough for you then I understand.)

(Julia: Shit. I was worried about that but it's fine. I'd rather be around magic than miss out. So when are we gonna hang out?)

(John: What about late Sunday night? Can you come over at like 11?)

(Julia: I work Monday morning! But I've gone to work hungover before so I think I can manage.)

(John: I have a spell for that in fact ;) )

(Julia: Then I will be over there at 11 on Sunday. I wanna see all your spells!)

I gave her my address and then left my room, almost running into my sister. She was beaming at me warmly.

"Good morning my sweet brother." She leaned up and tried to give me the same forehead kiss I give her but she was too short to pull it off and she almost tripped.

"Good morning my sweet sister." I returned the kiss properly. "Feeling better from last night?" She smirked.

"Can you even remember last night? Weren't you partying in your big crazy Island all night?" She had a twinkle in her eye when she mentioned the Island.

"It's empty right now sis, I need to fill it with a harem of hot girls first." I started walking passed her but she grabbed my hand.

"You hook me up with Grace and I will help you get all the girls you could ever need." She gave me that stare that still pierced my soul. (If I still had one) I agreed and went downstairs.

Breakfast was uneventful and Mom was asking me about staying home again. I told her I wanted to try and have a normal life still and I finished my breakfast. I left the house in my sisters cloak again and this time added a bit of face covering and dark glasses. I also wore my chains and frame, just in case some shit went down.

I pulled up to Victoria's house and she got in. She was dressed in a sundress that wasn't too short and she had her hair in braids. Compared to her usual dress she was an absolute housewife.

"Good morning darling." She almost sang that in my ear. She leaned in and kissed me giving no sign of distaste for what happened last night. I liked this side of her, I didn't even know it existed.

"Good morning, babe, how did you sleep?" I smiled at her and she grinned back at me knowingly.

"I slept like an angel. A horny out of her mind possessed angel but yeah. Can we do something about that please?" She looked so cute!

"Nope! Tonight after the party IF you behave yourself at school today." I held her chin and she pouted.

"I'm always good at school." I let her chin go and drove off.

"Then you should get what you want tonight, no problem."

School was largely uneventful. Most of the students were put off by my appearance and I could hear loud attempts at jokes about squids and octopus which was unfair, I thought. How many squids had ever enslaved the entire planet? So, they're not this bad!

I got a smoothie thrown at my head at lunch which took me back to my freshman year. Aww the memories. Lindsay walked by and asked if I was okay and told me about how she nailed the presentation for me. I thanked her sincerely and she left. Victoria giving her that glare the whole time.

"So do you want to enslave her?" She sounded jealous but quiet enough that nobody else heard.

"I want to enslave everyone, honey, plus she would make a good maid around the Island or something." Victoria looked confused. "Oh the Island is my universe I invented, Ill show you tonight if you want." She wasn't convinced but dropped the subject.

Derek was walking up to me after lunch. I knew the conversation he wanted to have and I was gonna surprise him. "John," he said tersely.

"Oh hey, I was looking for you I wanted to quit the team." This stopped him in his tracks. "Yeah with the whole head thing and the sun exposure problem, I would just distract from the try outs and the newbies should be focused more on doing well." He folded his arms disapprovingly.

"So you're giving up then?" He sounded almost gleeful. Derek was the captain because of who his father was. He was a better player than me, no doubt about that, but I was a much better leader than him. He knew that too so it made him insecure. This insecurity was passed on to me in the form of bullshit like this.

"Yes, I'm giving up because I want to leave the team as strong as possible. This is the only way to do that. If you need help with behind the scenes stuff I am always glad to lend a hand." I started to walk away, maintaining the power dynamic was easy with someone slow like Derek. "Anyway, I gotta get to class, tell Crystal I said hi!" I walked off.

The day dragged on. I wasn't meant for this now. Sitting in a room learning some math concept I could invent in my head. It also wasn't as conducive for flirting as I wanted. Maybe I would just ditch school forever. I probably had enough days and high enough grades that if I left for the last two weeks I would still pass with a B- average. Although with my expanded mind I could probably just hack my grades and get the outcome I wanted.

Victoria had something with Volleyball so I headed for my car to find a redhead standing next to it. It was Lacey and she looked upset.

"Oh hey John. Do you think you could give me a ride home? I know Victoria's party is in a few hours but I wanted to go home and take a nap first and Crystal bailed on me." I spoke gently and sweetly to her. I could safely play with everyone now and only face minor repercussions

"Of course Lacey, it would be my pleasure." I put a hand on her shoulder. "Is everything okay?" She nodded and got in the car.

I sat down and closed the door and she flung her arms around me. "I was so scared for you yesterday. I didn't know what was happening are you okay? Did you and Victoria break up? Oh you poor thing you still look great to me." Her voice died out at the end and I took her hand.

"Victoria is having a really hard time with this." I lied. "She's trying to pretend that everything is okay but I don't know if it is. It's just so hard right now with everything going on and I have no one to talk to you know?" She bought every word of it eagerly. I should feel guilt about lying this callously not hard. I was always a mindslaver at heart I guess.

She took my hands in hers and we made eye contact. Her eyes were bright green and beautiful. I would've been terrified of Victoria finding out about something like this before. "You can talk to me John. I know you and Victoria are together and I don't want to jeopardize that but I am completely here for you." She pressed her forehead to mine. "If you ever need to talk I will drop what I'm doing to come talk with you, and Victoria doesn't have to know." I smiled.

"Thanks Lacey, we should definitely hang out sometime. How about Monday? Wanna skip school with me?" I said with a cheeky grin. She returned the grin.

"Yes! oh my god that sounds fun! We should go somewhere!" I agreed. I drove her home and thanked her again. Monday was shaping up to be a busy day. Right now I had to focus on tonight.
