Forming the ambush

You make it to Krest along side Petra who seems to be finishing a prayer she must have started on the way over. The three of you gather around the stump atop of which Krest stands.

“I hope you’re both ready, they’re not far off now.” He says valiantly.

“Where’s Bax?” Petra says clearly concerned at his lack of attendance.

“He and his owl familiar were acting as our forward scouts. Baxter is likely waiting for us to kick off the ambush so he can jump in and surprise the scouting party.”

“That’s not a bad plan if it’s true” you add in.

“So, what do you need us to do?” Petra says while clutching her staff.

“You two back me up. I’m going to draw them up the hill and we can use the advantage the high ground provides to thin their ranks.” He says while jumping off the stump.

“Got it!” you and Petra say simultaneously, glancing at each other with smirks.

“Lower the dampening spell on the fire, let it shine bright.” Krest says to Petra. She speaks a select few divine words as the camp fire behind you grows brighter than normal. You shield your eyes before turning to face the road once more.
