Follow Mrs. Montanari for a while
Moments after Rudi left the bakery, she kicked off the heels she was wearing and quickly finished closing up the shop. She hadn't been so excited in months. Now that she trusted how well the necklace worked, she removed it and stashed it in her purse. Walking to her car barefoot, It was an odd thing to see her older self reflected on the window as she put her things into the backseat. She couldn't have been wearing the necklace more than 2 hours, but now that she thought about it, that had been the longest amount of time she'd worn it since buying it. Mrs. Montanari shook the concern away and drove home.
Her husband wouldn't be home for another 2 hours, it was only 3:30. She would need to have an alibi for tonight, so she called her favorite neighbor Patricia. They had both traded favors for one night stands in the past, to the point where it was a hobby for the both of them. If it had been a couple weeks with no action, they would often go out as wing-girls to the bar and find at least one person to enjoy for the night. They shared a common bond, their husbands had both given up on life years ago. They both had well paying jobs that kept them afloat but they were dead inside once they got home.
"Hellooo?" Her Patricia asked, answering the phone.
"Hey Pat," Mrs. Montanari started, "It's Deb--"
"OH! HI DEBBY!"She screamed excitedly, "It's been too long! Are we due for a trip to Sammy's?"
"No-no Pat, I need a cover for tonight," She half-whispered, even though no one was around to listen."I've got a catch I can't afford to wait on."
"Ooo! You must tell me about him!" Patricia exclaimed,"But I've got your back, where are we going?"
"We're headed out to the mall until it closes at 10, and then we're headed to the drive in to watch whatever's on right now."
"Got it, but where are you _actually _going?" Her neighbor prodded, "Who's taking who out?"
"I'm letting him take the lead," She mused, thinking about her young date,"But we'll be in a motel by the time this night is over."
"You've _got _to come over and try this new sun-screen I got from the herbalist!" She cried, "Plus, I can tell you about my latest catch while you tell me about this one."
They shared a laugh and made a date to sunbathe in Patricia's back yard the next day. Debra spent the next 2 hours cleaning up the house, and then called Tony's, her husband's favorite Pizza place for an easy-clean dinner option. By the time he came home, the Pizza had already arrived but was still piping hot.
"Hey Deb," John began, but smelled the air in the kitchen,"Is that Tony's? What's the occasion?"
"Nothing special honey, but I know we haven't ordered out in a while so I thought of you." She gave him a welcoming hug,"Happy Friday."
"You know my greatest weakness, dear." He gave her a kiss, setting his lunch bag down on the table.
"I'm headed out with Patricia tonight. To the mall and a movie." She said, grabbing him a slice of pizza and two bread sticks, setting them on a paper plate.
"Girl's night?" He said, taking a bite of a bread stick, "What's playing?"
"I'm not sure, but we both need a night out." She left the room to go prepare. "I'll be back late so don't wait up."
Her husband made no attempt to pry further, instead enjoying his pizza and surely sitting down to watch something on TV. She showered and then went into the depths of her closet to find a dress that she hadn't worn in 2 years, a deep-cut emerald piece that she had worn to a friend's wedding once and then forgotten about. She loved to use these one night stands as a way to wear something she had hidden away somewhere, but tonight felt different. She chose the emerald dress as it had always felt a little too small around her hips. She needed to see what impact her new necklace would have on it, and a few choices of underwear.
Is she interrupted by her husband?
