What's next?

Follow Alessia to the lab

"A sister is both your mirror - and your opposite."

- Elizabeth Fishel

The Mk VI's worked better than Morginn could ever have hoped for. She was a sucker for having new things to play with, and as far as gadgets went these were high end stuff.

Moving swiftly from a high spin into a low, she finished a figure 8 movement with her wrists that brought her body full circle, using her own momentum to bring the attack around in a graceful curve to rest the weapons back under her arms. Sweat poured off of her body from the excursion, but she was just grateful the room was warm enough for it to not begin to freeze.

"How's the weight?" Alessia asked, having watched the show from the comfort of her chair a safe distance away. The only visible effort she had exerted during the test had been to lift her glass from the table to her mouth, condensation dripping slowly down the sides whilst observing the other woman's workout raise the temperature in the room, and her own, a couple of degrees above the norm. Her daughter was the fighter, she was the thinker in this relationship. Not that she couldn't fight, she could. It's just that Morginn was the better of the two.

"They're a little heavier than my old one, but I'll get used to it I guess." she said, bouncing them in her palms. "The extra range, and the fact it uses less juice is a fair trade in my book."

Alessia nodded. "I thought you would appreciate that. The new design means you can do more damage for less effort, but it looks like you already figured that out for yourself," she said wryly, looking over at the row of still lightly smouldering training dummies that had just moments ago finished being beaten into submission. Small tufts of white flame smoked away lightly, scorch lines marking where the hits had landed. It was a fair fight, it was their own fault if they didn't put up much of a counter attack .

The Välyö was still warm in Morginn's hands. An 8 foot staff that could spilt into two seperate parts down the middle, it was her weapon of choice. A thin rod of crystal ran down the inside of each half, ending in a focusing crystal at either end. With training, the wielder could release their energy reserves down the crystal in a concentrated beam, until it became laser thin. A deadly weapon, it became an even deadlier one in her hands.

Fitting the two halves back together with a click, she lent there on it catching her breath, feeling the exertion of the fight tingle deeply in her already tired muscles, but savouring the rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins as it swept some of the fatigue away. Her breasts heaved in her tight top as she slowly brought her breathing under control.

"You up for hitting the firing range? I want to see how you do with the new Välcri• too." Alessia said.

She wiped a sheen of sweat from her hands and her cleavage down the back of the already drenched pants she wore.

"Sure, I want to know it works properly if I'm taking it out with me." She just hoped her arms wouldn't be too tired to hold the gun steady. There was no way Alessia would ever let her leave without being hauled down to the infirmary to be checked over if she couldn't, and that was not time she was prepared to waste. Plus needles and her didn't exactly see eye to eye.

"Here, catch," she said, throwing the Välcri• over. That's, it Alessia, you hurl the experimental gun at me why don't you. "I've already packed it for you."

"Snow?"

"Yes. I've been working to increase the size of the storage chamber to hold 14 shots. It took me a while to figured it out, but the projectile size had to be slightly reduced to compensate the increased shot capacity. C'mon, let's go seen how you do with it."

The Välcri• side arm had been designed to reduce the dependence on conventional ammunition when they went topside. The weapon had a hollow grip, allowing snow to be packed inside a lieu of a clip, and by focusing their energy through the palm grip, the snow melted into water, before being refrozen as super dense ice shards that were then fired at terminal velocity.

A shot fired from one of these would punch through an inch thick sheet of metal, comfortably carry on travelling once it hit the other side, and anything softer than that like butter. 'Ice knowing you' puns when you took a shot were optional, but highly recommended.

The pair made their way out through to the firing range next door. Each donning fresh jackets and gloves that hung inside as they crossed through into the airlock, they fastened them up tight. The temperature in the firing range was set to only a couple of degrees higher than those that would be encountered in the field. Any lower, and they wouldn't be able to know if their weapons would jam on them when they went to fire them. That made it cold enough to freeze the balls of a stone statue in there. Not a place to enter with exposed skin.

Pulling the hoods on the jackets up snuggly around up their faces as they prepared to head in, they waited until the inner door chimed as the pressure equalised. The door opened with a hiss, letting frigid air rush in out and frosting two sets of eyebrows with a fine dust of frost. Even through the warm layers, Morginn felt her nipple stiffen.

"Hey Mom, look." Morginn said, blowing a stream of icy breath out. "I'm a Dragon."

"I'd say more like a Frost Pixie that's been kicked through the mud. Still terrifying though."

"Frost Pixie huh," she said with a grin. "I can work with that I guess. Well this Pixie wants to get going ASAP, so just a quick test and then I'm heading out ok?"

"After 3 hours sleep, if you give me a perfect grouping, I'll come help you pack and walk you up to the doors myself"

Satisfied with the deal that had been struck, she made her way over to fix a fresh set of targets to their rails, letting them slide back down the track.

"Ready?" she asked.

"As I'm going to be," Morginn said, raising the Välcri• to a firing position. "Hit it."

Targets rushed out randomly at her, and her index finger tapped out lethal rhythm with the trigger as shots were let loose.

She ended up missing one out shot out of the fourteen that had been fired, but managed to pass it off as numbness from the cold getting into to her trigger finger through the gloves. She was pretty sure Alessia knew that was lying, but she also knew damn well there was no way she was going to allow herself to be hauled off down to the infirmary over one dropped shot either.

"Ok. Go get your stuff packed, and I'll meet you out at the Gren when you're done." She fixed what was most defiantly her 'Mom' look on her face.

"Morginn," she whispered softly, "for once, I don't know what you're walking into. Make sure you pack well ok."

"I will. I'll be as quick as I can. Do you mind taking these up for me? My arms are killing me" she said, handing her weapons over. "I still have to haul my gear back up when I'm done."

"Sure. Now go," she said shooing the sweat drenched red head out of the door. "I'll have everything else ready for you by the time you're done." Her gaze lingered on her daughters tight little ass as it swayed out of the door, and she wished that they had more time.
