Focus on Valerie, for now.

You let out a sigh as you look at those three girls standing before you. Sondra as per usual had let herself be dragged into trouble, and the two new girls are something of the victims in this mess. Not wanting to spend the next hour sorting out punishment for these three naïve girls in addition to Valerie, you decide to delay any decision regarding consequences for the trio.

"Very well,” you regain the full attention of the room as you, in no uncertain terms, tell the girls what is to happen, “Sondra, Tricia and Emily, I will reserve my decision about your responsibility and what punishment, if any, to give you. You may go. I suggest you spend some time in thought about your behavior and your willingness to follow bad leadership. I will tell you my decision regarding any penalties tomorrow."

With a wave towards the door you excuse them, turning your attention back to Valerie and Mr. Carter. Waiting until you hear the sound of the door clicking shut, and then nodding at him.

"Let her up now," you tell him and as he does, leaning his weight off her, she jumps to her feet, screaming.

"You're both fired!” she yells, pointing an accusing finger at Mr. Carter and then you, “My Daddy will make sure you're fired!"

"Valerie,” you begin in hard but calm tone of voice, ignoring her outburst, “I'm going to take some time to make a decision regarding your punishment as well. However, one element of your punishment I will tell you right now.” You stare her down as you tell her this, seeing the anger and desperation in her eyes, “Your eligibility to play on the soccer and softball teams is revoked, effective immediately. I will inform you of further punishment by tomorrow."

"You can't!" she screams, wide-eyed hate on her pretty little face after hearing your decision, "You can't do that! You can't!" she continues wailing on, tears now streaking down her face as she stomps her feet and clench her hands into fists.

"Oh, I can, Valerie," you say, keeping your voice firm and emotionless, "I can and I have!" you raise an arm and points to the door, letting her know that this is over, she’s finally gone too far and this decision is final, "Don't let the door hit you on your way out."

Valerie stares at you, nearly panting with rage for a brief moment before she turns on her feet with an exasperated groan and storms out of the office, slamming the door behind her.

As the sound of the door being slammed shut rings through the room and in you ears, you keep your eyes fixed on the door for a moment, counting to ten in order to control the anger that girl creates within you. Before turning to Mr. Carter, who stands slightly shocked by what has taken place here.

“Have a seat Mr. Carter,” you point to a chair, hoping that his time at the school won’t be as crazy as his first taste of it, knowing his past issues and fearing what so much drama could cause of potential pitfalls for him, “Quite an eventful arrival you’ve had.”
