Focus On Your Work

“I wish I could,” you say, “but there’s just so much stuff that I have to catch up on that I don’t think I can make it. Have fun though!”

“Yeah, good luck. You’re going to need it. I’ll let the others in the lounge know too,” Tatiana says, heading over to some of the other people. Interestingly enough, she went directly to you after coming into the room - was she intending on letting others know from the beginning, or just using this as an excuse after you declined?

At any rate, work is calling, so you look back down at the long list of problems that remain to be done, and with a small sigh, go back to grinding your head on some stupid corner solution.

After an hour of work, you’re feeling pretty tired. At least you’ve now got half the problem set done. You stand up to stretch a little and see who’s around, and notice a girl with black hair sitting on a sofa, watching some anime.

“**** Note’s great,” you say, “just don’t watch the Netflix version after this - it was pretty shit, and might even ruin this show for you..”

“Yeah, I know,” the girl says. “This is my second time through, and honestly I’ve picked up on so many more details this time around.”

“That's how you know you’ve got a good show,” you say. “What’s your name? I’m Alex.”

“Jennifer,” she says, looking up from the screen and eyeing you up for the first time. She looks impressed by what she sees, and you decide to take things a tiny bit further with the dark-haired vixen.

“Mind if I watch along with you?” you ask. “I’ll just grab my work and do it alongside.”

“Sorry? Oh.. yeah, sure,” she says, a little surprised. She shifts over on the sofa, opening up a space for you. You take a seat, balancing your textbook and papers on your knees, and watch the screen, striking up a conversation as you plug away at your work on the side.

Jennifer, though initially a little quiet and shy, quickly opens up as you find common ground over the show. The two of you chatter away over small details for three episodes, and you manage to finish the problem set too, though probably not as thoroughly as you may have liked.

“Should I start the next episode?” she asks as this one wraps up.

You strongly consider saying yes, but checking your watch, it would make you very late for psychology.

“I would, but I’ve got class now,” you say, catching the crestfallen expression on her face. “Don’t keep watching without me though! I would hate to miss your insight on the next episode.”

“No problem,” Jennifer says. “Hit me up anytime, yeah?”

You nod, thinking to yourself that you would love to hit her cute face with a certain organ of yours…
