Chapter 2
by cuddlefish
How does that turn out?
First, some notes from the author
5/4/18 - Hey all, and welcome to my first original story on chyoa. This is the story of Jalyn (pronounced JAH-lin, not that it really matters) and his quest to overcome his birth gender to become an accepted member of a tribe of Amazon warriors. Eventually it may also document her later adventures as an Amazon. It may not be obvious from the first few chapters, but this is meant to be set in a fantasy world where magic and monsters exist and the level of technology and culture is roughly in line with classical history (with a few key exceptions explained by magic, including some not-widely-available forms of printing and long-distance communication). I'm planning to write a story line where Jalyn gets the Amazons to accept her as a woman through determination and perseverance, and also an alternate path where she transforms physically into a woman with the help of magic. My story lines will include sexual encounters between Jalyn and the other amazons, but sex will not be the primary focus of the story as such. As far as any other ideas, I'm open to approving chapters from other authors provided they are reasonably well-written and follow site rules, even if they take the story in a whole new direction, like maybe a male-dom fantasy where Jalyn seeks **** on the Amazons for rejecting him or a fem-dom path where the amazons capture Jalyn and keep him as a ****. If I think of anything else that needs to be established, I'll add additional notes to this page.
5/8/18 - As I post the first round of new chapters, it occurs to me that I should add some notes here about the characters introduced so far, and some additional major characters waiting in the wings. We've already established the main character, Jalyn. There are four leaders of the Amazons who are worth noting. The queen's name, which it appears I've managed not to mention so far (oops!) is Beralla. We'll find later that she was new to the crown in the prologue scene, and has mellowed out a bit in the years since. She's a cautious and capable ruler, but still a bit haughty. She has three main advisers, whose rank is distinguished by the feather-plumes woven into their hair. Eranna, who we've already met, is the chief huntress of the tribe, and is also in charge of recruitment. She's stoic but compassionate, and makes a good mentor. Shial, mentioned in passing in chapter two, was the other warrior present in the prologue. She's the head warrior of the tribe, and primarily concerns herself with security. As such, she's belligerent and paranoid. Finally, Zanthia, the head priestess, has not yet been explicitly mentioned. She's the oldest member of the tribe and highly values tradition and honor, but she prefers not to argue any course of action until she's at least attempted to obtain a sign from Amyria, the chief deity worshiped by the Amazons.
Amyria is somewhat of an outsider in the pantheon of gods in this story. To be honest, I haven't gotten around to fleshing out all of the mythology yet. The only other specific deity I've come up with is Arathon, whose role is to watch over the wheel of life through which mortal souls are reincarnated.
In the magical transformation story-line, we also have the witch Cyria, but I think her first chapter does a good enough job introducing her. I like her character, so she may manage to show up in other paths. Finally, one other member of the Amazon tribe who will prove significant is Miri, formerly known as princess Mirilana of Rhemia, whose decision to join the Amazons sparked the conflict illustrated in the prologue scene. She's about the same age as Jalyn, but she ran away to join the Amazons as a young girl to escape her life as a princess, and they begrudgingly took her in. She's since discovered that she likes living close to nature, but doesn't enjoy fighting. She's apprenticing under Zanthia to become the next head priestess.
Now that that's out of the way, these newest three chapters add a lot of potential new story-lines. Obviously, I'm not going to be writing for all of them right away. For now, I have plans for and will focus on a story arc where Jalyn sets out to rescue the girl from the dragon starting from the "heroic deeds" chapter, and a magical transformation arc where Jalyn chooses to undergo a complete and permanent transformation to a woman's body, while keeping recognizable facial features. The other options laid out in these chapters can be considered 'fair game' for other contributors, in addition to any original ideas you may have. I may use the mythological backstory uncovered in the "pray for guidance" chapter in some of the other arcs, but I also may not, and other contributors certainly don't have to consider it 'canon'. I'll probably eventually write some chapters that link "pray for guidance" into one of the other story arcs, by having Amyria guide Jalyn to Cyria's hut or to some sort of lead on one of the 'quests'.
5/11/18 - A few brief notes as I start in on the "dragon-slaying" path. First, I feel I should note that, in my chapters at least, Jalyn will be portrayed as bisexual but generally more interested in women than men. Other contributors are not at all expected to maintain that. Second, SPOILER ALERT, this story-line may not actually lead to dragons being slain. Just thought you should be warned. Third, though the characters in the dragon-hunting party are available for use by other contributors, I probably won't be writing more scenes with them after that story arc concludes.
5/23/18 - Apologies for the disappearing act over the past two weeks. I've been busy with, well, real life stuff. Also I've been spending the time that I have been on chyoa working on my second original story for the site, which isn't ready for publishing yet. I'm trying to finish the 'prologue' section of it first. It should be up in a week or two. It has almost nothing in common with The Unlikely Amazon - it will be heavily dependent on 'game' features and will include lots of lesbian sex and tentacle sex.
5/24/18 - It occurred to me earlier today that this sex story didn't have any sex in it, so I just added a chapter to correct that. I'll try to make sexy times a bit more of a focus going forward.
If you actually bothered to read all of that, I'm sorry for being so wordy. Now go back to the intro.
