Fine With It

...Fine with it.

The truth feels like a punch in your gut and the shock must have been clear on your face.

“I know this might seem like bad news,” the doctor began with an earnest smile. “What with the conditions of asylum and what not but you really should look at this as a good thing.” She leaned back then and glanced at the paperwork before her. “With what you said about your father...it might have lead to some concerns…”

The discomfort on her face gave you pause and the loaded end of her sentence was something you wanted to follow up on but you knew you couldn’t. It wouldn’t make sense for the girl you had conjured to be able to read the subtext. So instead you took a tiny pleasure from a quirk of the character you had created.

“Oh, Father always made sure to plant his seed in my belly button when we were training.” You stated with certainty. “He even liked to do that with Mama as well! After all, a seed cannot grow in shallow soil.”

You took a tiny bit of pleasure from the obvious discomfort on the doctors face. “Yes, well you won’t have to worry about that. We did notice on your bloods that your some of your hormones seem to be quite high. That might explain why you haven’t been able to conceive just yet. If you are happy then we can start taking bloods weekly to keep an eye on it and see if there is anything we can do.”

You figure that must be tied to the morning after pill, unsurprisingly in this world, it seems like those kinds of contraceptive aren’t a thing. What happens if you get ****? You wonder to yourself as the doctor rambles on about health and food and a bunch of other shit you really couldn’t give two shits about.

Eventually, she let you go and you found yourself again out on the streets. The day was young and you still had plenty of places you could go to. You had been flicking through some of the local mags and had seen a fair few adverts “Mixer” events. Of course, you could always just wander around and see what trouble you could get yourself into.
