Chapter 7 by floppy15 floppy15

Is the band ready?

Final preparations

It takes another minute to remember what I wanted back here. With the memory of this pleasant encounter, I go backstage. Except for Piper the room is empty. She is busy tuning her guitar, a L-48, and for a minute she doesn't notice me. As I observe her I see her fingers quiver slightly. The tension is reflected in her body language. I always admired her, not just because she is a smoking hot girl playing the guitar. Piper never liked to show off her amazing body, she wants to be recognized for her music and not for her looks. To be honest she is the best guitarist I know, although I would never admit it to her.

Tonight she is dressed in jeans and a black t-shirt, but with her killer body and her nipples showing through the fabric, she still turns head wherever she is. What she lacks in sexy outfits she makes up with her styling. Tonight she has light brown lip gloss on, which matches her eyeshadow and her short blond hair is modeled into a Mohawk.

“Hey Piper.” I greet her and make her aware of my presence. She turns her head and I think I can see a smile. But it's so faint I could have imagined it.

John Doe. To what do I owe the honor?” she asks after she resumes her work.

“I just wanted to wish you luck.” I tell her. She looks up at me and is genuinely surprised.

“Seriously?” she asks and this time smiles for sure. “Thanks.”

“Where are the others?” I ask her to distract her and take the pressure off of her.

“Kit and Steve just went on stage to set up and Jason...” she starts before I cut in.

“Jason?” I ask surprised.

“Yeah.” she replies apologetic. “He came to us and you know, he has a great voice.”

“I know.” I say after the initial shock and pause for a moment, before I add: “Piper, be careful.”

Now it's her turn to look at me surprised. “Careful? Why?”

“Because he is the biggest asshole I ever met. He'll screw you over the first chance he gets.” I try to explain to her. She thinks about what I said for a moment and continues to adjust her settings. After a moment I realize that this isn't news to her.

“You'll blow them away.” I say after a moment of awkward silence.

“Thank you John.” she says and walks towards the stage door. “See you at school.”

“At school?” I ask her dumbfounded.

“Yeah, I transferred. I saw you sitting in the yard a couple of times.” she explains and disappears onto the stage. This is a pleasant surprise. Excited to see them perform I go back to Ernie and Morris.

How is the show?
