Chapter 20 by Nathaniel Keam Nathaniel Keam

What Does Emily Do?

Fight or Flight

Emily was in shock. She couldn't feel the cold for the embarrassment racing from the pit of her stomach and displaying itself all over her face. In a sudden panic at what Daffney had done to her, she managed to roll off the downed Amelia onto the unforgiving floor. A hand raced for her barely concealed crotch. No, what use would that be? She raised herself slightly in a bid to charge Daffney. No, what had it led to?

The girl in the g-string couldn't catch her rapidly moving mind. Thoughts raced at a hundred miles an hour as every option under the sun presented itself to her. As she watched Daffney return from throwing her shorts far out of her reach, she glared with a mixture of fear and fury. Her fight or flight response was on fire, but she couldn't settle on what to do.

Daffney had a big goofy grin on her face, having seemingly forgotten that her bra was on show. "You won't be getting those back in a hurry. What are you going to do now?"

Emily's words caught in her throat. This was all Yana's fault for starting this in the first place. It was her fault she was now in her undies in public for not just ganging up on Daffney from the beginning. No, it was Amelia's fault for making them not simply abandon Yana to the fate she'd set herself up for. She'd never wanted anything to do with this.

"Hey, Emily, I wonder if you're matching," Daffney said in a mocking voice, repeating Amelia's words from earlier.

The mention of "matching" sent a jolt of terror through Emily's core. She snapped out of her nightmarish reverie and scrambled to get to her feet. Her leather jacket fell to her waist. The shirt and the jacket covered nothing at the back. She'd never been more humiliated.

Gritting her teeth, she wanted nothing more than to return the favour. Daffney kept moving towards her with an evil gleam in her eyes. No, she couldn't do this.

Emily turned tail and ran. Losing her shorts was bad enough, she thought, as she hurtled across the parking lot on a trail for home, she wouldn't be going home in anything less. Yana and Amelia could go to hell.

Is that the End for the Numbers Game?
