Chapter 12

What do you do?
Explore the ruins of the physics block
You decide to go and explore the ruins of the physics block in an attempt to find any clue that might lead you to understand why this happened.
You wander through the gutted building, taking notice of the long gouges that have ripped through the walls and floor, the torn walls and crushed body. The trail of destruction leads back toward the wreck of a classroom, the large hole in the wall indicating that this was the room the monster originated from.
A list of names are written on the whiteboard at the front of the classroom. Most of the rest room is completely destroyed, tables and chairs crushed like they were made of matchsticks.
You look back at the board with the list of names, it looks like one of Dave’s shame lists. After each test he would always write a list of names on the board, names of people who did the worst in the test, and then proceed to ridicule them for about half an hour. You always hated this, even though you were never one of the people whose names were listed.
An image of the monster flashes up in your mind again, and you have this nagging feeling you recognise it. You look back at the list, and remember the anger you had at him for always doing it.
Suddenly the two thoughts click together and you remember exactly where you recognise the monster from.
Back when you first started learning about magic, you and Will found a large book on the use and theory of magic. One of the sections of the book talked of an older time, when strong emotion could take form. This obviously had dire consequences for any large gathering of people, as emotions like anger cause untold deaths. As a result of this a group of powerful sorcerers bound this power away behind powerful wards. Following this explanation there were picture of various demons. Below the entry for Anger a large red skinned, horned demon was depicted.
The caption below it said that the demon of Anger was one of the weakest demons of emotion, and generally took the form of mankind’s oldest images of the form of demons. The demon was usually summoned by a large gathering of anger at a specific target, but could also be summoned by a single person with enough anger (though these people tended to summon a demon of hate instead). The demon of anger would then hunt down and kill the target of its anger, before collapsing in on itself and disappearing.
The scene starts to take picture in your head, a large room full of angry students, the target of their anger being Dave as he ranted on about how terrible some people were. This sea of raw emotion took form as a demon of anger, and it chased the teacher out of the block, destroying most of it in the process, before catching him and ripping him into two and then disappearing.
Why the demons had started appearing you do not know, however you are sure that more and more of these demons will be appearing, and you are not sure you could survive an encounter with one at you present strength. What can you do to protect yourself?
