Explain yourself

Slowly, carefully you take Melodys hand into yours. She looks at you with a puzzled expression.

“I am afraid there never was a chance for us to be together.”

Melody starts to sob, but as she tries to withdraw her hand you hold onto her.

“Please let me finish. There never was a chance, but there is now.”

“What?”

“I said there is a chance for us to be together now.”

Melody looks at you, for now the constant flow of tears has stopped.

“Why do you say that?”

You smile at her.

“You know, I wanted to be with you for a long time, but I was always afraid that I would hurt you and ruin our friendship. But now it seems that I won’t have to worry about that anymore.”

As she looks at you again, you can see fear and uncertainty in her eyes.

“Melody, I love you, I have for a few years now, I know that this may be late, but I simply wish for you to be happy, so if you want me to leave all you have to do is ask. But if there is a chance that we can make this work, I would gladly take it.”

After this there is a moment of complete silence, the only thing you hear is your heartbeat and Melodys breathing. You can see the wheels turning in her head and just when you think that she will push you away, she lunges forward and wraps her arms around you. You embrace her too and the two of you sit like this for what feels like an eternity. All the weight that you had been carrying around inside seems to have gone as you can feel the heartbeat of the woman you love. You feel a little disappointed when Melody pulls back a little.

“I want to be with you, Jack. I want you to remain at my side, I want you to be the father of my children.”
She looks deep into your eyes and you cannot help but feel mesmerized by her emerald eyes as she takes a deep breath.
“I love you, I want you to stay.”

Your answer is to simply pull her close and kiss her, carefully, softly at first, then with a burning passion as the two of you make out for quite some time. In the end you both are panting, trying to catch your breath.

“I take it we have got quite a bit of making up to do.”

“Yes, but we will get through anything, as long as we have each other right?”

You pull her into an embrace once more.

“Yes, Melody, yes we will.”
