Espa Roba flips Telepathic Power

"Telepathic Power! When you destroy a psychic-type monster, I can destroy your monster, then gain life points equal to the damage! Only a super-psychic could come up with a move like this!" the young man cackled, still keeping two fingers pressed to his temples like gloating was part of his psychic powers.

Mai was not particularly upset about the destruction of her monster... she felt confident she could turn the duel back around, even if Espa Roba got an extra 1500 LP out of the exchange. She'd managed to destroy his face-down monster, too. What did disturb her was a sort of a low buzzing, like an old CRT television coil, that seemed to be coming from the device around her head. She heard Espa Roba's voice inside her head... was he really a psychic? "Impossible!" Even after all of the shadow games and the incredible magic she now knew to exist, some things still had to be off limits to ordinary people, didn't they?

What was worse, of course, was the content of the messages Espa Roba was sending her. "Oooh, I did it, I did it! I thought for sure she was going to use Harpie Feather Duster or something! Phew, talk about good luck!" She heard his giddy voice inside her head, though on the other side of the field, he stood silently wearing a cool smile. At any rate, it sounded like future sight had nothing to do with it. "He he he he... Wouldn't it be cool if I could really use psychic powers on her?! With a real power like psychic trigger I could... make her do whatever I wanted just by saying the phrase super-psychic! Like, like... what if she...?"

The list of ideas Espa Roba provided was a little hornier than she'd dared to imagine. Of course, he could wish all he wanted, but that wouldn't make it real, right? This helmet might be connected to his thoughts, but he didn't have any real power over her... Right?
