Accept the deal

Jake thought for only a second, but the lure of magic was too strong for him.

"I accept!" he said.

His doppelgänger smiled in satisfaction.

"All you have to do is say, 'I renounce this world', and walk into the mirror world", he said.

"Walk into the mirror?" Jake repeated. "That makes no sense."

"It will when you do it", his double replied.

Jake shrugged. He would face further adventures when they came.

"I renounce this world", he said, and walked towards the mirror.

Rather than slamming into the glass, the mirror rippled as Jake reached it, allowing him to pass. He turned after he passed through it. His doppelgänger was staring at him, his smile cruel. He waved at Jake, then turned away. The room on the other side of the mirror dimmed, then vanished. Jake was left in the dark.
