Emphasize effort

I‘ll send a sweaty selfie to show how hard I’m working while she debates how much ice cream to buy.

I snap a picture in the locker room mirror smiling, showing off my sweaty shirt and messed up hair.

Warren: Just look how much fun I’m having.

Mindy: I don’t buy it.

Oh really?

Warren: Let me try again...

I squirt the entire water bottle all over my head, letting it stream down my face and soak most of my shirt. I give the camera an exaggerated thumbs up and my best wide-eyed, manic smile. Snap. Send.

Warren: JUST LOOK AT HOW MUCH FUN I’M HAVING!!!

Mindy: Oh my! You are making such a mess!

Mindy: Fine. You win. I’ll put the ice cream back.

Warren: VICTORY!

Warren: I’ll be finished here within an hour.

Mindy: You are that sweaty and have an hour to go? I’m going to buy this ice cream for YOU then.

Warren: NO! Put it back. I am checking your freezer when I get there.

Mindy: We’ll see.

I leave the locker room and finish my workout. After that I shower and change into my T-shirt and comfortable jeans. I am going commando today, because hey—it’s the weekend.
