Eleanor's Backstory.

(This will be posted in third person, as it is more informative rather than the actual story.)

Eleanor was born to a human mother and an elven father in the small town of River's Edge. She never met her father, as he left after the night of passion that conceived her. Being raised alone wasn't terrible though, her mother ran a relatively successful embroidery business from inside their home, and Eleanor was spared the usual ills of a girl raised by a single mother. Their life was comfortable enough for the young girl to get a bit of a belly, which she maintains to this day. Her mother sometimes teases her about it, and Eleanor does not like that. From a young age, Eleanor was fascinated with tales of adventurers, especially heroines. She would eagerly listen to stories told by her mother about heroines who travelled the nation, beating back evil and protecting innocents across the realm. Growing up, Eleanor began to look up to her mother more and more. She was inspired by her maternal love and strength, and their bond became utterly core to Eleanor's being. When she was 12, the construction of a monastery nearby came to her attention. She found out it was one to Lucretia, the goddess of motherhood, fertility and wives. The moment she found out about it, even at her young age, Eleanor knew she had to join the faith and become an initiate.

Eleanor was one of the first initiates of the River's Edge monastery, and she was the most eager. The faith of Lucretia was one dominated by women, it being one of the only faiths that focuses nearly entirely upon them. Many women have a special place in their heart for Lucretia, and those that are aware of her sometimes keep idols, one with wide hips and large breasts, usually adorned with a small smile upon her fair face. However, the faith of Lucretia isn't one with universal warm feelings. Many other faiths perceive Lucretia as the goddess of women of loose morals and the more puritan faiths even regard the faith as little more than a sex cult, and challenge the priests and priestesses of Lucretia openly. Further, and darker, some of the more uneducated types might see the faith as a celebration of sex and thus take the existence of a priestess as an open invitation to take what they want sexually from her. Lucretia hates ****, and punishes rapists and murderers the same. Still, the support from near half the population is more powerful than the condemnation from a few old stuffy men and their acolytes, and the faith thrives to this day, as Eleanor thrived under it. She studied the scripture every day, but the young initiate returned home every night, unlike her peers, wanting to see her mother again. As she grew up in the faith's care, the idea of being an adventurer slowly crystallised into being her ultimate dream. She wanted to be one of those heroines in the stories, she wanted to be out there smiting evil, protecting the needy and healing the wounded. These ideas only pushed her further into her studies, and made her excel. Eventually, when she turned 18 and had matured into an optimistic, strong-willed and kind woman, Eleanor was made into an official member of the faith. But there was one thing left to do before she became a fully fledged paladin of Lucretia...

Her pilgrimage.
