Chapter 4 by Leviathan Leviathan

When does he discover any of this?

During the Quirk Apprehension Test

"DIE!!!"

The rounded-up students of UA's Hero Course, Class 1A, watched in awe as Bakugo Katsuki shot a baseball way high into the air with a massive explosion. "Die?" A few of them wondered about the meaning of this shout, but there was very little time to waste - Teacher Aizawa was already calling the next one.

"Midoriya, your turn. Let me warn you - if you break your arm throwing that ball, you will be expelled. There is no use for a hero who becomes a useless burden after one big attack." He seemed... in a better mood than when he got Bakugo to do it, for some reason. More calm and forgiving. Weird.

If I don't get this right... my dream ends here. All Might has given me so much... I need to make sure it doesn't go to waste, so for now... I'll do all I can!

With this mentality, and a strong grip on the baseball, he took a step forward and swung his arm, pouring the full power of One For All into a single finger, yelling at the top of his lungs while at it. "SMAAAAAAAAAAASH-!!!"

[BOOM]

The ball was sent flying high into the air, blown by incredible power and the wind that came behind it. Aizawa was left in awe, checking his phone to see that the ball had been sent as far as Bakugo's did. When he looked back at the young man... there were no injuries on him.

Izuku couldn't help but warmly smile. Had he learned to control it? His finger didn't break at all, it just became bruised...! "This kid...!" He heard to his left. When he looked back at Aizawa, the man was giving him a creepy, yet honest smile. He did it. He had finally-

"DEKU YOU BASTARD! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!" Bakugo charged at him with a wildly mad look on his face, but the homeroom teacher made quick work of him between bindings and his Quirk-cancelling Quirk. While still a little scared of him, he couldn't lose heart now.

The rest of the tests went equally well - he jumped ridiculously far away in one bound, side jumped so fast that he became a blur for a few seconds, and matched the foot speed of the fastest student so far, Iida Tenya, in both distance run and 100-meter dash. His grip strength tore through the machine before he could actually measure it, making it his highest result yet. The only tests he did unremarkably at - for a fit, well-trained 18-year-old - were the sit ups and toe-touch, which his Quirk did not help with.

The green-haired boy sat on the ground once Aizawa revealed he wouldn't be kicking anyone out after all. He was sore all over, his arms and legs covered in bruises of varying color and intensity. The girl he had saved during the entrance exam, Uraraka Ochako, sat down next to him, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Bwaaah~ That was pretty scary! Aizawa-sensei can be pretty mean, huh?" She looked at him, noticing a couple of those bruises in the spots that his costume didn't cover up. "Ah, those look painful... want me to take you to the nurse's office?" Honestly, he had barely heard what she said, lost as he was in this uncommon and exciting situation - a girl, approaching him to talk, caring for him at all? He felt his heart would stop if he wasn't careful, and could feel the heat rising to his cheeks. She was so pretty, too...!

Still, he wouldn't make the same mistake he made at the entrance ceremony, where he froze and said nothing back to her; this time, he would actually say something rather than make a fool out of himself!

"Uhhhh s-s-s-sure..."

Nailed it.
