Chapter 7 by vanillathunder vanillathunder

Do you try to dress in the ill-fitting men's clothing? Or just pick something of the woman's that fits?

Dress in the women's clothing that fits

You didn't have any real choice, you had to wear something. You rifled through the drawers until you found a pair of women's capri pants. They weren't perfect, but they'd do. You took the towel off and slid them on over your legs. Another search yielded a red 3/4 sleeve blouse, which you quickly buttoned up. You didn't have time to brush your hair, but you figured that this would work long enough to get the neighbors off your case and rushed to the door, opening it.

The couple on the porch took a second to look at you before they began speaking.

"You're not Marie..." the woman said. "What are you doing in her house?"

"No, I'm not. I'm Eric, uh... I'm subletting the place while they're on their trip." you replied.

"They didn't say anything about subletting to us, did they Steve?" the woman asked her husband.

"Not that I remember." Steve replied.

"Must've been a last minute thing." you said.

"We didn't know anyone was staying here, and then we heard that loud bang and noticed that the bedroom lights were on, and got concerned." the woman said.

"Nothing to be concerned about. I'll try to keep quiet from now on." you said.

"All right..." the woman didn't seem convinced, but she dropped the subject.

"Anyway..." you started to shut the door.

"Well, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask." Steve said.

"That's right, I'm Carol by the way." the woman said.

"Got it." you smiled as you shut the door.

As they walked away, the neighbors talked a bit about their experience.

"That was... odd." Carol said.

"I know, but she seems like a nice woman." Steve said. "Strange name though... Erica."

"I think it's Swedish..." Carol remarked. "She looked terrible though, maybe I should keep an eye on her."

"Whatever you think, dear." Steve responded.

Now that they were gone, you could finally return to the task at hand, you needed to see how much of the machine was repairable and how you could do so with the equipment in this time.

Do you start work on the machine? Or does Carol come back to the door?
