"Ms. Fraye, I do not wish to accuse you as such," I started, returning to the ladies, "but seeing as how you've lied to me, not five minutes ago, I hope you'll forgive me if I do not entirely believe you concerning your um... state of being."

Shame and fury took hold of her features. Her lip trembled and her fist shook in her lap. She took in a shaking breath. "If that is how you wish it, when someone has bared their shame right in front of you, I will thank you to leave my home and never return." Standing sharply, she pinched the sides of her skirt and curtsied to me, a gesture made with the ill-est intentions unhidden. "Good Afternoon, Mr. McKay," she sneered, before walking away into the back of their home.

"Lulu..." Ms. Loome sighed, looking after her. Turning to me, there was pain in her eyes. "Mr. McKay, she is telling you the truth. And to my knowledge, apart from her family, who she has cut all ties with, the only other person who knows of her condition, is me. I must beg your patience with her. It is, of course, a very sensitive topic."

"I do most sincerely apologize," I said, placing my hand on my heart, "I did not mean to give offense."

She held her hand up to me. "I understand completely. It was... a surprise to say the least when she told me as well. But... I love her. And I love all aspects of her." Looking over her shoulder, her fingers fidgeted, and she frowned. "Mr. McKay... would you be so kind as to join us for dinner tomorrow evening?"

I let out a feeble chuckle. "Were I not already banished, it would have been my honor."

"Oh not to worry, I can convince Lulu to forgive you," she smiled, "after all, like I said, a sensitive topic." Standing, she smoothed down her dress.

I stood as well, my welcome here evidently at an end. Making my way to their door, I thanked them again for their time and service, and left for my temporary home.
