What do they want to do?
Don't choose
You decide to stop this before it gets any further. "Do we really need to make a decision now? Come on, we're all eighteen and ready to face the world; we should explore a bit first."
Jess supports you for once. "She's right; we don't have enough data to make an informed decision. We should table this until we know more. Anyway, regardless of what we plan the world may have other ideas."
"What, like an alien invasion?" asks Olivia.
"Maybe," Jess answers, "or one of us might win the lottery, or someone could find us out, or nearly anything. The other thing we should do is finish out the semester and graduate. Maybe someone will have a bright idea, maybe not. Either way all our options are still open."
"Even superheroes?" asks Olivia.
Jess sighs. "Even superheroes."
"Good, 'cause I already made the costumes."

Trans-Human
The Next Step in Evolution
In 1594 a single cosmic ray photon struck a single molecule of DNA in an oocyte of an unknown woman somewhere in Europe and caused a tiny mutation. That oocyte was fertilized; the resulting boy grew into a man, and that man became a successful mercenary. As he travelled the world he made the acquaintance of many women and left a substantial genetic legacy. Twenty generations later his descendants started to mate with each other, signalling the end of the domination of Earth by homo sapiens. It started small, with a girl named Ariana and her friends.
