Chapter 5 by Spioch Spioch

During today's lecture. We'll talk about ...

Domination Skill

Classification: Racial Skill
Effect Range: Individual
Element: Mental
Races Known to Posses: Barbarians (rare); were-beasts (very rare); Beast-kin (unconfirmed)

The [Domination] skill is fascinating case of a skill that despite drastic effects seems to have evolved to induce the tribe cohesion, and reduce fragmentation among the most aggressive and competitive races. The evolutionary prerogative seems clear - eliminate constant struggle for power, thus increasing the tribe size, and reducing internal bloodshed, leading to greater chance of survival for the species.

We still are not 100% of all the effects of the skill, and at least some of the effect seem to be race dependant. What we do know is that in the most basic form the skill causes the looser of the fight to obey all the orders of the winner. There are few important notes here:

  • Only one of the combatants needs to posses the skill for it to take an effect on both of them.
  • Loosing does not appear to make the looser subservient to the winner. Only obey his orders.

What we were also established is that the effect only lasts until the next challenge. However outside of certain rituals, almost always the first order from the winners mouth is: "Never attack me again!", preventing any further fight and the reversal of the relationship.

Speculation:

We hesitated including this information as it seem to be not sustained by any credible observation. But decided for it to aid any potential future investigation.

  • The phrasing and confidence the order influences the power of the induction. So screaming: "Halt!" will work stronger then whispering "Please stop"
  • Controversial report by Elena from Uo.Lopy, seems to indicate that the effect of the induction seem to wear out over time and might require to be refreshed
  • The more compulsions are placed on the victim, the weaker each of the individual one will work

Obviously further research into it is needed, unfortunately we have lost contact with the last 3 students we've sent to investigate.
