Do as the nurse asks

You take the stack of forms from Nurse Mileu and sit down at the desk in the file room. The work you are doing is rather mindless, and it allows you a chance to think about the events of the day.

On reflection, you still can’t believe you had the balls to alter Sarah’s paperwork. You’ve never done anything that compulsive before in your life. You could chalk it all up to being stressed, but then you saw how a mature adult like Nurse Mileu deals with real stress, and you feel a bit ashamed of yourself for your juvenile behavior.

You give a passing glance at the forms that you are alphabetizing. For the most part, the information on them is the essence of uninteresting. They primarily contain students’ medical histories and confirm that they have all the required vaccinations.

As you flip through the papers, one name jumps out at you, causing you to take a closer look. The name is Kendra Ivers. A quick scan of the form confirms this is the same Kendra Ivers who was your first real crush way back in junior high. You haven’t seen her since her family moved away in the 9th grade, but you have thought about her many times since then. The photograph attached to the form reveals that the years have been very kind to her, and she is even more gorgeous now than she was when you lusted over her as a boy. You make a mental note of her dorm assignment and make a point of checking in on her at the earliest opportunity.

You are just returning to your task of organizing the forms, when the file room door opens, and Nurse Mileu enters. You look up at her and say, “I’m just about finished in here. Is there anything else I can do?”

Her stern expression puts you instantly on guard. She has a form in her hand. Even though she is several feet away from you, you recognize your handwriting on it. You gulp, and try to keep your heart from jumping out of your throat.

“Did you say your name was Connor Winters?” she asks with all the warmth of a counter-espionage agent about to conduct an interrogation by use of ****.

“Y-yes,” I stammer.

She waves the paper in her hand. “And would you happen to know how one of the female students who requires special medical attention just got her prescription medicine regimen changed and her housing reassigned to share a suite with you?”
