Dive bar
We left the mall and headed straight to a sorta redneck dive bar that wasn't too far away. It was the sorta place where the parking lot was filled with pickups, the bear coolers were filled with Natty Light and country music played on a never ending loop from a jukebox in the corner. The place wasn't remotely busy, but every eye in the room turned towards us when we walked in the door.
"Evening, ladies," said the bartender. He was a gray headed man with massive, muscular arms that were covered in tattoos.
Besides the bartender, there were six other customers in the bar. There were two older biker-looking guys in the corner playing pool. They had long hair, beards and wore a lot of leather. A younger couple that may have gotten in with fake IDS sat in a booth in the back sucking face. The boy had his hand up her skirt and from the looks of his date, he knew what he was doing.
Then there were two guys at the bar who looked to be in their late 20s. One wore tight jeans (with a Skoal ring), cowboy boots, a flannel shirt and a John Deere hat. He was a very good looking guys. His partner was a shorter, fat fellow with a beard. He wore much looser fitting jeans, Nikes and a Jeff Gordon NASCAR t-shirt.
"Evening, ladies," said John Deere hat.
"Hi," Susan said with a giggle.
"Steve, set me and Carl up, and two of what the ladies are drinking," he said to the bartender. He hopped off of his stool and pulled out the two stools next to him with a surprising show of manners. "I've not seen the two of you around here before."
"Its our first time here," Susan told him. "Bud light for both of us."
"Here you go, Dale," the bartender said. He sat two Natural Lights down in front of the two guys, and the Bud Lights down in front of us.
Dale took Susan by the hand and helped her onto the stool next to him. For a moment his hand rested on the small of her back. She blushed a little and giggled again. His friend, Carl, came around and offered me a hand. I awkwardly took it and slid onto the stool besidr Susan.
"I'm Carl," he said.
"Meg," I told him. I grabbed my beer and took a drink, unable to miss Carl's eyes going to my lips.
"So what brings you to a shitty bar like this?" he asked.
"Just having a fun girl's night out," I told him.
"I have to warn you, the two of you are higher caliber than most of the women we see here," Carl said. "For one, you both seem to have all your own teeth."
"He isn't lying," Dale said with a laugh. Instead of retaking his seat, he was now standing right next to Susan. He whispered something in her ear and she giggled again.
