Diplomacy with Amazons

This was a rare event. Not only had your brother failed in conquering the Lonuh micronation; he retreated on his own. It's not hard to believe, given he lost a third of his troops, but you'd never seen him admit defeat without your father's orders.

"We may still gain an alliance." Prince Gerald offers, "They are willing to negotiate, but we'll need to send a woman of the royal family."

So that's his plan. Your family has no women since your mother's passing. He must be planning to send you away to secure his rule. Worse, you have no way to refuse without a good reason.

"It may be dangerous, but I believe John could fill the role. Lonuh is isolationist, and I have confirmed they have little knowledge of foreign affairs."

You take a chance "If they have such little knowledge, couldn't we send an actual woman."

Gerald glares at you but soon calms himself to avoid Father's ire, "They have no way of knowing whether the envoy is a member of our family, but it should be obvious whether she's royalty. Besides, it's not as if you have any other value, second son."

"Enough," Your father is very familiar with your bickering and has little patience for it, "John, negotiations shouldn't take longer than a week. I'm sure you can disguise yourself for that long."

"Of course, I have every faith in my younger brother. So much so that I took the liberty of spreading word that our princess Doe would come seeking an audience in the near future."

There's no fighting this, but it's unlikely that Gerald devised anything beyond your ability to circumvent. In all likelihood, some of his "lost" men will attack your caravan, but you're confident you could best them with a little preparation.
