Deraxle goes to the Castle's Study

Deraxle watched as the people inside the castle prepare for an evacuation attempt, as he searched for the castle's study. As he did his walk, he stopped to see the extent of the unrest at the castle's front gates. It looked like the entire population was there, trying to plea for the king to take action, or to sue for peace. Whatever it was, he could sense the weariness of the people from the four wars in a span of a decade and change. Then he resumed his walk, finding the study near the inner sanctum of the keep. The study was quite small for a royal castle, styled in a cylindrical shape, with about two towering shelves of books and scrolls. A ladder was there, that can be rolled on a track from one shelf to another, and there was a central table there, with a few smaller ones there, and plenty of chairs for sitting to read.

Near the back end of the study, though, he saw a single shelf of books that had been encased in glass, reinforced with an iron gate. Upon closer perusal of the book covers and scrolls, he could sense demonic magic in them. Perhaps they were the recordings of the blood pact that the ruling family made with the Demon Lord, Jarlaxle. Perhaps they were of some other dark or demonic nature that had been locked away for safety. In either fashion, there were no writings on the book covers; and that made the Draconian wonder what lies the ruling family must've been using to deceive anyone who inquired about them.

For now, Deraxle was content with looking at the map scrolls and other books of interest, looking at the cover to see if there was anything that he could add to the guild's library, before they become lost in an imminent collapse. A scream from deeper within the inner sanctum startled him for a moment, but then he realized that it was Valnora doing her...necessary evil. As the brief chaos ensued, Deraxle decided to take some bold action, figuring that if anyone could help him identify the true nature of those books and scrolls that had been locked up, it would be Valnora herself. So with a jolt of lightning, he blasted open the lock, then opened the glass door, and grabbed the contents within. Placing them in a pocket dimension afterwards, he started to feel the floor shake--small at first, then become increasingly violent. It wasn't long, then, before the Draconian was racing towards the airship.
