Day One

It was commonly said that this was the first day of the rest of your life, but that was really the day you graduated. This was the first day of senior year in Amorous High School. It wasn't exactly the rest of your life, was it?

Summer seemed to not last nearly as long as it had the year before, but all the same everyone was excited for the first day. The new freshman finally got to be a part of the teen scene, the sophomores were one step above the freshman and finally had a little taste of social control in the school. The juniors felt more experienced and carefree than they did last year, this year was going to be a breeze for them. Then the seniors, the alphas of the whole pack, a bunch of young adults getting a taste of true freedom outside of school and having finally the control of being the top dogs in class. As well as that one last final step towards graduating and being freer than ever before, or so everyone thinks.

The day had just begun, the freshmen were in orientation in the gym and everyone else had gotten their schedule from the few hundred papers lined out on the cafeteria tables.

The first class that Oliver had gotten this year was English. The first class was always seen as the "home room" and was thirty minutes longer than the rest of the class periods. After English, was math, Oliver was in an advanced math class than what his grade required him to take and that was okay. Nothing special happened there. Following math Oliver went on to history class, then there was a lunch break.

From being a part of the yearbook committee, Oliver had made many friends from all social high school scenes. He was happy to be back in school and be able to see the friends that he really didn't have much contact with throughout the summer. He was invited to sit with a lot of different people but decided that it was best to sit with his best friend, Katie. She was always there for him and had made him do a lot of ridiculously fun things that he normally would never at tried on his own during the summer.

Katie had long brunette hair that was fair and silky, her eyes were a rich brown and her skin was pale. She was just freshly eighteen as of the very first day in September, and both of them were extremely excited to be what was legally considered the first step in being an adult. Oliver and Katie talked about their classes during lunch and laughed a lot. It felt good to start off his year telling funny stories and jokes with his bestie.

After lunch it was back to the classes. Gym class was next, then after that was citizenship class, which was required to pass to graduate these days, and finally, the elective hour. Oliver's elective hour was the photography class which was also run by the same teacher overseeing the yearbook committee. Katie was also in that class.

The rest of the day ran smoothly and Oliver went to bed happy that night that his senior year had such a great start. Even though that was the case there was this nagging feeling in Oliver's stomach right before he drifted off to sleep, like the universe was trying to tell him something big was coming, something that was going to change the outcome of his entire senior year.
