Danielle ponders the future at work

After cooking up a breakfast of pancakes, Danielle took Spencer to his house. They exchange one final kiss before he left the car. As she drove away, she felt a pang of guilt over moving things so fast. She'd been more use to one-night stands ever since catching her ex-fiancee Nick with another woman. Maybe now it was time to move on. One night stands and partying had their place, but those things were starting to become stale.

At the office, Danielle did her best to get on with work. It'd proven a solid distraction for years, but she was wondering if it was time to take on something else. Start a new chapter in her life. Maybe she could travel the world, or do something for charity. Something to get away from her dull office with the picture of a place she'd rather be.

It was around lunchtime when her phone rang with the call she had been waiting for. She took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?"

"Hey."

"Hey Spencer. How are you?"

"Good. How's work?"

"The usual." She sighed, turning to the photo of the beach she wished she was currently relaxing at.

"Say, when are you planning on going for your weekly hike?"

"Tomorrow, actually."

"Well, I was wondering if you've ever been kayaking?"

"No, no I haven't actually. Why's that?"

"Well I've got a lake on my property, and I was wondering if you'd like to try it out?"

"Sure. That sounds great. I can be there at 1 o'clock."

"Perfect."

"Alright. I'll see you then?"

"Sure. See you then."

Danielle hung up the phone with a smile on her face. It might not quite be a holiday, but the idea of trying something new excited her. It may just be the first step on a journey of a lifetime, and maybe the love of a lifetime as well.
