Curiosity.

You curiosity decides to win; you decide to have a closer look. Even in the starlight the pond water looks unusually dark. Despite being slightly unsettled at being in such an odd place however, you have no reason to be cautious.

You walk up to the edge of the pond and look closely. The funny but lush rubber grass goes all the way to the waters edge and into it a little. You kneel down to scoop some of the water up in your hand and let it trickle out. It looks like inky black water but feels a little thicker than normal. It also seems to run off your hands like water and is at a cool temperature.

The reeds poking up are very similar to ones you know back home, but the lily pads seem unusually large, at least a meter across. They also have a vertical lip around their edge to keep the water off them.

Looking up, you can see the lily pads and reeds encircle the entire pond.

Well this is a nice looking area... pity it's in such a weird place!

Just as you are about to start walking around the pond however, you spot something out the corner of your eye; something moved under the surface. As you look back to the pond you can see several ripples lapping at the edge and making their way over to the other side.

If this is a pond, i wonder if it has anything living in it?

Even as you finish thinking the question, you see a nondescript shape under the inky black water again and with a sudden Woosh! Something jumps out of the water and onto a lily pad!
