Stay or go?

Cops at the Door

"You were just dreaming Deirdra!" You scold yourself. "Don't make it worse by turning into a fugitive!"

You repeat to yourself that you are doing the right thing by staying, pacing in font of Amy's door as you wait for the police to arrive. But in the back of your mind Amy's voice is still warning you about the monster coming to your door.

"Keep it together Deirdra," You again remind yourself. "There's nothing to be afraid of."

Suddenly, a loud banging at the door makes you squeal in surprise.

"Uh wh-who is it?" you ask as you calm down.

"This is the police ma'am," you hear a male voice say. "May we come in?"

Looking through the peephole you see two officers, a man and a woman, standing in the doorway. The man was older than the woman, sporting salt and pepper hair and a craggy face with each wrinkle a testament to hard years on the street. Dressed in a frumpy, obviously Wal-Mart bought suit and wearing a neck chain badge, you figure he's the detective. A look of bored disgust could be seen in his eyes and it kind of puts you off.

The female on the other hand was his complete opposite. A bit shorter than the detective, the young, honey blond haired woman wore a crisp dark blue police uniform, cutting both an attractive and intimidating figure. Her green eyes were alert for any trouble which her athletic form was sure to pounce at when it came. You also couldn't help but notice how comfortable her hand looked as it settled on the butt of the Sig Sauer 226 holstered at her side.

"Ma'am, I asked if we could come in," The detective repeated.

"Oh! Of course." You say, turning the doorknob. "Come in."

The detective pushed passed the door as you opened it, shoving you as he came in. The officer was more polite when she entered, mouthing an apology to you and then glaring at her companion.

"Lock the door will you Officer Gardner." The detective spoke as he looked over the living room.

"Excuse me detective?" The policewoman asked.

"You heard me Officer!" He snapped, turning to face you and Gardner. What you saw sent a cold shiver down your spine.

For an instant, the detective's face transformed into what you could only describe as pure evil. His features literally twisted in feral anger, distorting it until it was almost unrecognizable - with hate being the only identifying trait. The face also seemed to grow old exponentially, aging a hundred years the span of only seconds.

And then everything went back to normal.

"Do it officer." He said flatly, again turning his back to you. Glancing to your side, you see a look of dread surprise on the policewoman's face. It seems you weren't the only one who saw old man demon.

Now do you run?
