Cool Eddie

Eddie closed his eyes, took a deep breath and turned towards Rebekah. “What is it that you want?” he said with a low voice.

“Just ignore Liam, he doesn’t think before he open his mouth, I’m sure he didn’t mean any harm by that remark,” assured Rebekah, trying to calm down Eddie, as Eyla nodded and lovingly and comforting Eddie with a sweet pat on the back. They knew how hard it was for Eddie right now, especially after what their best friend, Natalie did to this gentle young man, whom was the sweetest man they had ever known. Liam’s remarks were hurtful to say the least and they don’t really want Eddie to feel the fresh pain he’s currently feeling.

“What is it that you want?” Eddie replied, with slight agitation in his voice and emphasizing the word ‘you’ as he has no interest in that sonofabitch Liam Greene.

“Ed, we’re worried about you! You’ve been hiding yourself at home, wallowing in your own sorrow. We want you to come out, go on with your life, follow us on our road trip!” explained the brunette with her usual motherly tone as Eyla nodded in agreement. They had all planned the road trip together before Eddie and Natalie’s breakup. It was a premiere plan of theirs to enjoy their holidays together as a huge group. Eddie was the mastermind behind the plan but since the breakup, the trip never even crossed his mind.

“Is that all? I know that Natalie will be there. Even if she’s not, I doubt I’ll actually go…”

“You’re being stupid!” Rebekah said defiantly. Eddie just ran his fingers through his brown hair and gave a small grin before replying, “Maybe I am!” and walked away towards his car. “Ed, wait!” pleaded Eyla, but he continued his step towards his car. The girls wanted to stop him but they knew that they were incapable of doing that. When Eddie has decided something, there was no turning back and it was unlikely for anyone apart from Natalie to persuade him otherwise.

Five minutes later, in what seem to be a very fast drive by Eddie from Rebekah’s house, running over dozens of red-lights along the way, Eddie found himself in front of his own apartment. He didn’t have any specific plans, he has nothing to do, he was unsure of what he should really do, but he knew for a fact that he needed to do something as he wanted to avoid the lonely feeling creeping up on him as he was alone in his large and empty apartment. He knew by feeling lonely, he would think about Natalie and when he thought about her, he would hurt.
