Continue to show her attention and favor

"Alayna," you say to her as you slide your blade back into its sheath, "I hope you will not think me a discourteous host if I neglect my other guests for just a moment longer. I find that I am eager to show you more of this beautiful castle which I am fortunate enough to call my home; after all, you have seen only the exterior and the Great Hall. May I escort you on a brief tour?"

"I would be delighted," she says, a smile on her face which does not quite reach her eyes; perhaps she already suspects that you are trying to flatter her.

"It would take several hours to show you around properly," you say as she takes your offered arm and you walk with her across the hall. "But, there is much we can see in a few minutes. We will be spending time in the gardens later this afternoon, so there is no point to going there, but have you heard of our Conservatory?"

"I am told that the walls and ceiling are made of glass as clear as the ice formed from spring water, and that there are not only herbs and flowers but fully-grown fruit trees inside."

"All true, my Queen. The room is guarded at all times, because the glass would be irreplaceable if broken; most of our guests never see it. But, if we are to become close allies, I would like you to see all of the wonders which your brave soldiers would be fighting for."

As you approach the exit from the Great Hall, you notice that both Captain Navarre and Queen Alayna's own Captain have slipped into position behind you both, as of course they would. However, it occurs to you that perhaps this is the time to dismiss the guard and show Alayna that you do indeed have the courage to walk about on your own. Surely the Queen would not offer you harm; even if it were her intention for whatever mad reason, everyone in the hall can see that you are leaving the room in each other's company, and if you were to turn up dead or injured, she would be immediately suspect. On the other hand, there is also something to be said for simply ignoring the presence of the guard; that is what an experienced king would do, after all.
