Chapter 1: Hardships
Now slowly awoken by your sobbing, Abby looked directly into your eyes. Seeing her facial expression changing from sympathetical to down right confused you tried to talk to her. "Abby...I...Knox had me...he said I needed to choose...." Only managing to break every started sentence and starting a new one before completly shutting down. "Where are we and what is going on, what happened Patrick Ravens answer me now!"
After a long, long hour you were successful in explaining everything to her. "What are you talking about? A god of inner conflict, named Knox? A choice?" Only having a face of painful disbelief left for you. "I swear it Abby." You tried to reassure her. "No you did something to me, I can feel something is wrong, I'm going home." Visibly crestfallen she turned on the spot and started walking away. "No wait!" You struggled to your feet and tried to go after her but soon she changed from a swift and steady walk into a running as she noticed you following her. She started sobbing aswell and went off of the path into the woods, ignoring a sudden preassure pumping in your back. After about two minutes of chasing her, Abbigail had just reached a broad river and continued running to the sounds of a waterfall coming from not to far away. You just wanted to reach her and explain it again to her, maybe she would be able to understand if you would just reexplain it to her again. When you had reached her and grabbed her hand and pulled her back into your arms, you heared a loud sould, sounding like a warcry. As you looked ahead of the woman in your arms shuddering and sobbing, you saw a big human, or was it a human?
An easily 6'8, and about 300lbs heavy, greenskinned woman was walking towards you, her shadows streching wide hitting you, due to the fire in middle of the camp set up behind her. "Who're you?" A surprisingly feminie voice asked, the voice was loud and deeper than what normaly should be the case for a woman. "Have you come trying to kill me?" You moved infront of Abbigail and said slowly under your breath "Calm down, nothing will happen to you I swear, I'll protect you." Abby seemed to feel better by you saying that but it was just little solace in that situation. "No we are'nt here to kill you, we don't even know you." Your voice was as calm as you could muster it up to be. "That didn't hold your kind back hunting me. but since I see no weapon, I can also beat you bare handed." The woman now having a clear malicious undertone started coming closer and closer, all the while the pain in your back now also streching over your shoulders, upperbody, arms and legs. "Please calm down we don't want any problems, we are just-" You are interrupted when the big woman threw herself at you, achieving a huge inhumanly leap into. Pushing Abby back you are taken to the ground by the attacker. She cocks her fist back and it hits you square in your jaw. Normaly that blow shouldve knocked you out but somehow it had awoken something in you, as she cocked her fist back again you managed a straight and strangely powerful hit, connecting with her face and nose making her head bob back. You struggled out of her grip easier than you had thought and coming to you feet. As she came to her feet aswell she looked at you with a wicked grin. "Someone with honour, at last you cowardly humans have come to fight with honor. Let's see how much fun this challenge will get."
"I don't want to fight you but I will if you give me ****." This time you charged into her connecting you shoulder with her upperbody, after having put one hand on the back of her knee to push her off balance. She was smarter and surprisingly swift despite her huge frame. Kneeling down on the knee that had your hand on it, she was able to pull you down a bit before being hit and gripping your clothes with both hands. But the **** what even surprised you, was too much for her to take head on and not fall. Taking her to the ground she ripped off your back portion of your clothes, you now in the more advantaged position, cocked back your fist and hit her hard feeling bones in your hand crack a bit. After about two or three minutes of grappling and some occasional hits to stomagh and face, the green woman was straddling you, she had won.
Now looking down at you she laughed "Hahahaha, you have some nerve to try and best an Orc in hand to hand combat." What did she say, an Orc? What was that all about, Orcs were only spoken about in stories and legends, which you only thought about as exactly that, stories. A big and open hand came down slapping you hard and pulling a pained growl out from between your teeth. "You were fun though, never seen a human boy fight with such strength, probably getting an extra dose of courage from your little girl there, didn't you." Now looking at Abbigail who stood there with unease and fright written all over her the expression of the 'Orc' change, becoming more and more excited. As you noticed that, you bumped your hips upwards and with a swift motion you were on her back and your arm reached all around her throat and you proceeded to hold her. Getting chocked she got more and more agitated standing up with you on her back and even jumping onto her back and onto you knocking the wind out of you, but you held on for dear life and managed to wrap your legs around her hips.
Not long after she struggled less and less, as you niticed it you stopped and let her go pushing out from below her. Standing up Abby asked with a low and continously gasping voice "I-i-is she de-dead?" You looked at the defeated woman on the ground and saw her torso heaving with every breath she took. "No, she isn't. What should we do, kill her-" Abby gasped loud hearing you talking like that."And take her camp, or... Abby what should we do?"
"Maybe take her to her tent and when she comes to senses we can talk to her and explain ourselves." She looked again as if she were on the verge of tears. "Ok I'll get her to the camp and place her down." As you tried picking her up you noticed that your strength was still extant and with that you lifted her up and walked to the camp.
reaching it there was a rather big tent, no normal tent you had ever seen was that big, most tents you knew were only big enough for one person kneeling down, but this tent was distinctly bigger. You could stand in it and saw a much too big sleeping bag, some dried meat and fish aswell as pouches with what seemed to be creme and medicine. Even a warhammer far too big for anyhuman to handle, aswell as a sword, it looked like a normal zweihander, only the blade seemed a bit strange it was black, and shined like glass. You came out of the tent and told Abby to go inside and that there was a sleeping bag where she could sleep in. "But my family we need to-"
"Tomorrow!" Much to loud you cut her off. "We'll talk tomorrow ok, please, I'll take the watch for the night, ok?" Abby saw sorrow, tiredness and exhaustion in your face and didn't want to contradict you as you looked much too irritated. "Ok," She said with a low voice "take care, please." Returning the plea with a tired nod, you turned to the Orc.
You had taken a furr and layed her on it. Abby had vanished inside the tent and also didn't return over the night. You sat upon a log lying around the campfire. After some hours exhaustion was getting to you and taking it's toll on you. A loud gasp pulled your focus to the woman on the hide, she had now sat up. "WHAT?" She shouted when coming back to her senses, turning her head vigorously and spotting you. "What have you done to me? I won't be captured!" Taking a fighting stance again. "No, please calm down, we don't mean any harm to you please just sit down or go to sleep, I will finish the watch this night." The plea in your voice beeing most predominant to her. Realizing that you won't be of any harm, the Orc relaxed a bit and sat down behind the camp fire not letting her eyes off of you. "I don't trust you." The blunt statement was filled with suspicion.
After about 2 hours she looked up at you. "What happened to you, why have you come to me, who is paying you?" The deep feminine voice still full of distrust, but despite of that it was quieter than you had expected. "No one is paying me." You answered.
You told her your story and what had happened to you in your village. The Orc's face changed the more you went on, you digressed, talking about your siblings and how much you miss them, your eyes starting to water. "Gods use mortals like playthings. We are ought to pray to them and follow their will. I understand you well human." Her eyes now showing sorrow and anger. "Patrick, call me Patrick." You told her. "What is your name?" Asking her with a more sympathetical look on your face. "Usha." Her answer was quick and short. "I also was played with by a god, Rokor." The name she said with the utmost hatred, was unknown to you. "Who is that?" You asked tuthfully.
"The god of Torment. He told me to chose between physical pain until the day I die, or emotional pain till the day I'll fight for it, the battle then deciding my future, **** or remedy." Her eyes not leaving the fire.
"So what did you choose?" at that question she blushed looked away. "None of your buisness." She said flatly. "Don't be like that, it's only fair." Pushing further for an answer. "The latter." she said low and slow. "What happend to you after your decision?"
"Don't want to talk about that." The blushing of her face not disappearing but now getting even redder. "Ok, won't press it, I won't try to do anything to you aswell. Why are you alone though?" Curiosity getting the better of you. "Banished by my tribe after they found out."
"Go catch some sleep, I will finish the watch." At that comment, the tent opened. Abby stood there having heard everything she had tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry Patrick, I'm so sorry for everything." She started crying. "It's ok go to sleep and since that bag in there is enormous you both should fit inside. I'm not sleepy or feeling exhausted so it's best for me to stay out. Would you two have a problem in sleeping together in one sleeping bag?" Abby shook her head. "No, no problem at all." She answered quietly. "And you Usha?" the Orc was redder than ever, not looking to either of you she weakly nodded.
