Decisions

Choices

She needed to make a decision, she had been criticised for making her runs through rougher parts of the city that she was familiar with. The higher class of Hunters generally didn’t venture far outside their comfort zones for unknowns like her, she would have to go to them for the renown of eluding them. Kitten still knew those parts of the city well but lacked the detailed knowledge that gave her an advantage.

Or she could play it safe and keep to the small neighborhoods she was intimately familiar with, easier money but it wouldn’t be smart to get cocky after riling up her fans and foes the last time. And there was no telling who among the gangs had the app that allowed them to hunt and that was trouble that she couldn’t keep risking.

Still making her mind up Kitten grabbed her comms, collar and mag bracelets and headed outside just in time to see her friend Jennifer come screeching around the corner in her Mini Cooper. Bright green with blacked out windows Jen had crashed, trashed and customised it so many times there was very little left of the original car beside the badges. Watching with feigned disinterest as her friend slid to a stop in front of her, Kitten hopped into the only other unoccupied seat in the car, the rest of the space taken up by various computer equipment. Jenny’s pride and joy served as a mobile hacking center a skill she put to good use helping Kitten keep track of events during a hunt.

While not her oldest friend Jennifer was certainly her truest, they had met at the self defense course that Kitten was the assistant instructor of, and quickly hit it off. When Kitten had expressed interest in the Game one night at the bar around the corner from the gym, Jennifer had given her full support and wouldn’t take no for an answer. That was when Jen came clean about the true extent of her hacking activities, while her dayjob was to test cyber security by night she tested her limits on anything and everything she could hack. She was lucky she had not been arrested yet and was keen to use her skills for a nobler cause before she took things too far.

When Kitten asked her why she became a hacker in the first place all Jen said was “It’s a hell of a lot easier than stripping.” She didn’t know if her twenty four year old friend had ever actually been a stripper but the statuesque redhead certainly had the body for it. Nearly a full foot taller than Kitten and blessed with a much more generous chest and firm, yet sensual curves to her hips all covered in smooth alabaster skin with a cute scattering of freckles. While a natural redhead she dyed it a deeper shade of crimson to give her a wilder, more rebellious look and her leaf green eyes always seemed to sparkle with cunning good humour.

“So where are we setting up this time?” Jennifer asked

Where To? New Ground or Familiar Turf?
