Chapter 4 by Korrin Korrin

Go to Harrison's Shop, Or check out the market?

Check out the Market Place

Having decided to peruse the market place while the day was still young, Maxine hoisted her bag over her should, and exited The Stag.
The sun will still fairly low on the horizon, and the sky’s were calm and clear, with only a few fluffy clouds floating lazily through the sky.
She made her way leisurely through the crowded streets, taking her time to look in all the shop windows.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a small figure wearing an oversized hat which cast their face in shadows, darting towards her through the crowd. The child bumped her roughly, throwing a half hazard apology her way, before continuing to run through the crowded streets, before slipping in to a side alley.
Maxine sighed as her hand went to her pocket. Just as she thought, it was empty. The kid had stolen her coin purse. Granted it was only her decoy coin purse. Everything valuable was kept in her bag, but someone should teach the kid a lesson, preferably someone who wouldn’t cut his hands off or beat him to ****.
She sighed once more as she began to make her way to the alley she’d seen the kid run in.

Compared to the streets, the alley was dark and quiet. It took her a moment to spot the kid who had picked her pocket, huddled in the shadows next to a garbage can. The kid swore and jumped as he spotted her, before making a run for it. Maxine gave chase.
There was a fence halfway down the alley. Maxine grinned, figuring she had the kid trapped, but then swore as he pushed aside a loose plank of wood, and slipped through a crack far too small for her.
No problem, she didn’t call herself a treasure hunter for nothing. Picking up a boost of speed, Maxine used a garbage can for leverage and vaulted over the fence with ease, and landed in front of the little thief.
He barely had time to stop, before she’d grabbed him by the scruff of his oversized shirt and pinned him against the wall, knocking his hat to the ground
Now that she had a good chance to look at him, she realized he was older than she though, just short for his age, which wasn’t unexpected as one usually required a healthy diet to grow properly.
The boy shook with fear, his eyes wide, now sure what kind of punishment to expect from a woman who’d just jumped easily over a fence.
She loosened her hold on his shirt and held one hand out expectantly, “My purse,” she commanded simply.
“But... But I need it for my brother.” He chocked out, shaking with fear.
“Oh really. What’s wrong with him?” She asked, not really interested.
“He… He’s sick, and we need money to pay the doctors.”
Maxine sighed. She really didn’t need this.

Let the kid have the money?
