Chatting.

Beth and Kyle chatted together for a while. They talked about what happened between Kyle and Brian, and what Nancy had been like.
"She looked a lot like you, actually."
"Oh, really?" That gave Beth some food for thought.
"She called me when I got back to the states, yesterday. She's still in town, and single, and wanted to get together."
"Wow." Beth's mouth hung open.
"I didn't return the call, just listened to the voicemail." He looked pained. "She cheated, and even before that, she was manipulative. But... is it wrong that part of me wants to..."
"No. I totally get it. That part of you thinks maybe things will be different."
"Well, that part is stupid, and I'm not doing that. Besides, maybe Brian would just fuck her again." He laughed, and then grimaced. "Sorry, that's not funny."
"It's ok."
They talked a little longer, until his eyes started to droop, at which point, Beth gave him a kiss on the cheek and headed to bed. She was proud of herself for not doing something stupid, but her dreams were nevertheless filled with things she shouldn't dream about.
