Chapter 6
by gunde
Does she follow him inside, or listen to the voice of reason?
Charge in after him!
Tossing aside all the misgivings that she had about the wisdom storming in after the man, Maila took a deep breath, causing her impressive bosom to rise even further, and then walked straight towards the entrance to the tavern. As she more or less charged through it, she had little time to react before finding herself standing face to face with someone who gave a strong appearance of being a bouncer.
The man, a half-orc armed with a vicious-looking mace, gave her a very menacing stare, but allowed her to proceed past the entrance and into the bar itself.
The main hall was soaked in a thin layer of smoke, which was odd; considering that there were only about twelve patrons present. As for the style of the place, it was rustic, with little in the way of more sophisticated furniture or decorations.
Sporting a slightly cooler demeanour then when she had stormed into the place, Maila stepped forwards.
After having given the room a first view, she saw no trace of the scarred man, his presence lacking from those there.
However, she spotted several characters who should have noticed the man as he passed through the locale:
First, there was the barman; a jovial man of only five feet in length, his heavy beard being of the same colour as his curly hair. Whilst cleaning a glass, he looked up to glance at the new patron. From behind his bar, which covered all of him save for the head; the short man gave Maila a welcoming smile.
Next, there was a barmaid currently occupied with cleaning one of the empty tables, her healthy young body, covered in a simple dress, appealed to Maila’s taste.
Thirdly, a burly man was sitting by his table, located not far from where Maila was standing, a tankard in his hand while he rested his eyes on Maila’s pleasing shape.
This man, bald but with a large black beard, was bare from the waist up, his legs clad in a pair of puffy trousers. The scars on his torso, and the sword tucked into the scarlet sash that hugged his waist, it was apparent that the man was some sort of fighter.
And finally, the bouncer must have seen the pale man enter. Of course, he might already have classed Maila as a would-be troublemaker.
Who should Maila approach regarding the pale man and his whereabouts?
